Modern DOS development?

I have fond memories of using DJGPP with DOS when I was young. I want to relive those memories. Doesn't have to be with DJGPP or Allegro. But I thought it would be fun to do some DOS development.

 

Anyone still doing it? Do you use modern tools?

I like DOS games more than I like DOS, so that's all I know about. Retro City Rampage got a DOS port.
