107 Intel Dual-Core CPUs from '05 and '06

Recommended Posts

Hey Guys:

I have a box of 107 old Intel Pentium Dual-Core CPUs from '05 and '06 averaging 2.2 Ghz each. Does anyone know where I can sell these?

I'm moving soon and I'm going to be selling some things.

BTW, I don't have an eBay account (don't trust them or PayPal), and I'm not crazy about Craig's list either. I was hoping for a place/person that deals directly with these types of things.

Thanks, guys.

Bob

I'm not sure the smelt value but I assume there would be a good chunk of gold to be had if all else fails?

Yes. Smash em all to dust, dump it in a glass beaker, pour in acid to dissolve stuff. Then gold will separate and you can extract them. With all those CPUs, you might be able to scare up half an oz total of gold which is several hundreds dollar.

The gold content is likely to be low. Much lower than they used to be. Obtaining gold from them is not for the faint hearted, either.

These chips may be of use to those building MAME cabinets. Something I want to do, once I can find somewhere to set up, is to build MAME machines using recycled parts. If you're looking to sell in one lot then you should look at getting rid at a low-ball price. Perhaps try and find out how much a recycler will give you then use that as the basis from which to set your price. If you can't sell them then send them for recycling.

You have so many limitations (no ebay, paypal, craigslist, etc) you should just toss them. And amibay is a cesspool of self important control freaks, I doubt you could post an ad that would be acceptable to the mods there, let alone sell one to a member.

And cost several hundred in time, materials, and fixtures. The OP might get hundred bucks at best if he goes the gold route.
