Koji77
All, I have an Atari 4160STE and a Ultrasatan, How do I get the machine to boot to medium resolution instead of having to set it every time? Thanks!
darwinmac
You should be able to use Save Desktop after you set your STE to medium resolution. I don't have an Ultrasatan, but it shouldn't matter. Bob C
ParanoidLittleMan
There is bug in TOS 1.06 , what affects exactly booting in med. res. If your TOS is that upgrade to 1.62, or to 2.06, or to both .
Amimitl2
Or you could install a different desktop, like TeraDesk, for instance.
Zogging Hell
With the bug in TOS 1.6, it is a problem with the save desktop routine I believe, so when you 'save desktop' it always saves as low res instead of medium res. There was an auto folder patch to correct the flaw iirc, or you can manually edit the desktop.inf file with a text editor to force it to boot in medium res (you'll need to find the correct line). Amimitl2
I was wrong about my tip about TeraDesk as a solution, as the desktop needs to be at medium resolution to make it run. It can't change the resolution to medium by itself, which I thought it could, for some reason. But anyhow what you need is STE_FIX.PRG, which you need to put in a folder named AUTO, either on a floppy disk or a hard drive. Then when you save the desktop, in medium resolution, it will be remembered next time you boot up. STE_FIX.PRG is in the TOSFIXES.ZIP attachment. tjlazer
Get TOS 2.06 from eBay Edited September 5, 2016 by tjlazer
Koji77
so just put this on the auto folderr on my SD card and let her go?
Amimitl2
Yes, it's quite simple. Have it in a folder named AUTO on the boot medium, in your case the SD card, then TOS will automatically load it in, when you boot. Zogging Hell has an excellent guide about it: http://www.zhell.co.uk/sthelp07.html
