Atari 4160STE 16MHZ or better?

Has anyone made an upgrade for the 4160STE to run at 16mhz or better? If so I'll buy it!

I'm just curious. Is this an actual 4160STE or a rebadged standard STE? I have one of the latter. What does it say on the serial number sticker on the bottom?

AFAIK no 4160 ever left the factory from Atari! It was a dealer add on to add the 4MB and the label.

Found a very old thread on Atari-Forum from someone claiming to have a 4160 that came from Bullfrog. The bottom label was white and said 4160STE, with a hand written three-digit serial number.

 

There have been claims that a few were made for developers. If so then they were probably 'sweeteners' for the larger game devs to encourage them to develop for the ST. I recall enquiring about the ST devkit around '91/'92 and at that time all the devkit contained was documentation and software. No mention of any hardware in the material I received.
