Zombie Attack!

Attached is a new game, still rather rough but I'm interested in any feedback. I may have gone a little overboard on the dark humour here, so if you're easily offended, please run back to mommy, please be warned!

P.S. Imp is still being worked on, I'm finding the level design to be a major pita, but hopefully we'll see something soon.

Sort of reminds me of a cross between Robotron and Necromancer.

 

I can't really work out what I'm supposed to do. Can't tell who's a good guy or bad guy. The weapons seem a bit funny to use. There seems to be PM random rubbish at times left by the hero. I paused to read instructions then came back and the guy was hung up on a house or something.

Sound effects don't really seem to be relevant to the weapon in use.

 

Also, the movement of the hero is just weird. Up/down seems normal but left/right it's like he alternates between moving a couple of pixels/sec and almost a normal speed.

 

WIth some tweakage this could be a good game concept but as it is it just seems confused and goalless.

Zombies and guns, what more do you need....

 

Like Rybags I'm a little lost as to who is infected and who isn't BUT I've not RTFM :)

 

Liking it a lot and with some tweaks it could be a right cracker of a game.

As the others noted... I can't tell who is zombie and who isn't. This is the big issue.

I just walked around randomly killing everyone! human and non zombie alike! Can't take any chances, I suppose?!?

I ended up losing health but I couldn't tell how or why this was happening.

 

Also there's glitching purple spots coming from the main character. Not a good look.

Managed to get my character stuck trying to walk through a house, but persevered and he moved through it eventually.

Got a few stray pixels in the player's PMG top and bottom.

eeee I remember the days when I was HSC Champ :D

ok now I've read the manual I'm meant to be not killing some of the littile gutys :evil:

 

When I tried the 2nd go he seemed to be at the bottom of the playfield (below the orange box) and some RAM scrolled onto screen / couldn't play :)

Thanks to everyone who made constructive comments! The feedback is much appreciated! I'll respond in the next message.

 

The game is progressing now that I have some time. I've done up a couple of demo videos (still a few cosmetic issues), and I'll send copies to interested people soon.

The red characters are zombies, the others are uninfected. You can kill both, but you'll get penalized for killing (murdering) the uninfected.

Because in real life you can't either! Adds a little challenge to the aiming process. In the newest version, the stronger Zombies can't be killed in one shot and when you hit them with a projectile weapon they are knocked back a bit.

I've revamped the scoring system - the old system was the failure not you!

Thanks for the info re uninfected and zombies..

 

Will the buildings play a part in the game?

 

Looking good, suitably perfect timing for an update with all the ghouls and ghosties out :)

 

Shooting zomies with different weapons, works for me...Great work...

our hero hold in his hands. I can select different devices

I can use it, but can´t see the weapon itself.

The "Zombis" and the non-infected Guys

look the same, so I kill those, who come to close.

 

The Idea of the game however is cool.

Good job! I´m very impressed. Please

move on, so we have another good game

for the upcomming winter :)

Hi Stefan!

 

I think you are playing an older version - before I had visible weapons. The new version correctly shows the weapon on a PAL machine (at least under emulation) and the Zombies do appear red!
