colecovision Yurkie modded has bad screen

I bought a modded colecovision from Yurkie years ago and the av video gives me a garbled picture. I'm using this username cause the paranoid security won't let me log in to my old username after I changed the password several and locks that account for an hour.

Did you have a question, or are you just announcing your situation?

Was your mod the one with the LM318 or the transistor? The transistor mod has been known to overheat. It might need to be replaced or repaired.

If it's something you can't handle diagnosing and repairing yourself, I would suggest contacting Yurkie via PM.

The part that is modded has a metal cover on it so I can't see if anything is broken there.

if its under the metal cover then it's probably the transistor mod and the transistor has probably gone bad.

 

try it on an old school tv first and see what you get, might be that your hd tv is just not compatible with the signal from the colecovision.

I tried it using the rf connection and got the same thing.

it may just be the LCD tv causing the issue.
