Wanted: Someone to fix my Commodore 1084 monitor in the TN area

Recommended Posts

My trusty 1084 went belly up after a decade of faithful service.

The black lines in the middle have now extended all the way down the lower half of the screen.

I tried eBay at first, but after receiving not one, but two DOA replacements (physically damaged, unusable), I figured I should try to get the one I have fixed.

Is anyone here within 100-150 miles of Nashville, TN that can repair it, or point me towards someone who can? I'd really rather not ship it if I can help it due to age and fragility.

Thanks!

Looks like a capacitor in the vertical. See here: http://eab.abime.net/showthread.php?t=48179

Working on CRTs is dangerous for the inexperienced but if you follow all precautions it can be done easily and safely. Doing it wrong can be deadly so be careful if you tackle it yourself. Should be an easy fix for someone local to you if you are going to seek assistance.
