Bubble Ghost (Game Boy) - hall 11, 74550. Very fun and frustrating game.

GCE Game Time watch:

Game 1: Firing Squad - 435

Basically a bullet hell avoid em up, this is a genius game.

Game 2: Missile Strike - 159

Hey, this is Star Trek Phaser Strike 1c5 or 1c6!

Game 3: Alien Assault - 159

A compromised but fun Space Invaders. This has the only real problem on the watch - there is no safe period after you get hit, enemies fire a lot, and when you get hit you seem to freeze. That means if you get hit once it’s probably game over.

Game 4: BlastAway - 231

A very good Breakout game.

Independence Day (R-Zone) - 8880

Got it working!

Playing this always makes me think I’m going to break the paddle. It isn’t really fun single player. It might be more fun two player but it would probably result in a broken paddle. This one ranks towards the bottom of my Microvision ranking.

Slap Fight MD - 617290 (Special mode + Toaplan mode, normal)

Pic_0210_955.thumb.jpg.f16df409d2fb49297d66995cc1ef7771.jpg

This game is actually really easy and can be finished in like 15 minutes, but it loops infinitely and has tons of well-hidden secrets to find, so the point is not to finish the game but rather to score as high as you can on a single credit. I usually mess up and die somewhere very close to the final boss, but I should be able to no miss loop 1 by the end of tomorrow.

The last few days for me…

Pac-Man (Tiny Arcade) - ???

This is a port of the Atari 2600 version, and it hides your score immediately after you die. There is no reason to play this.

BlastAway (GCE Game Time): 336.

Chomp’n’Chase (GCE Chase n Counter) - 4050. The joystick is not well suited to quick and precise movement and this requires it…

Xenon 2: Megablast (Mega Drive) - 60650. Ummm, I guess I just had to turn the music on?

Batman and Robin (R-Zone): 1540. This genre is surely the most frustrating of all Tiger lcd games.

Ecco the Dolphin Version 1 (Sega Pocket Arcade) - saved one dolphin friend. It doesn’t keep a score.

Assembloids (2600) - 5170 x4. Haven’t given up on this one even though the HSC ended.

Skiing (2600) - 28.81 (game 6, wrong game for HSC, lol)

G-Darius (PSX) - some obscene point total, but in beginner mode it resets immediately. Queen Fossil is really tough for me even in Beginner Mode (though I was playing with stock settings).

Fantasy Zone II: The Tears of Opa-Opa (Master System): 30800. I love how the bosses of the first game are reinvented as normal enemies. Fantasy Zone has the most ridiculously dark storyline of any cute 80s game.

Air Rescue (Master System): 29900. It’s not too hard to finish a level, but it’s really hard to finish a level with the maximum possible rescuees. I don’t think you can save them all on most levels.

Star Trek Generations (LCD): 3600 or so. It instantly switches back to watch mode once you die. Weird Soviet-esque Game and Watch about saving falling cosmonauts that they just slapped a Star Trek sticker on.

Blockbuster (Microvision): 143, by far my best game ever. After an hour of failure. “Microvision hand” is an underrated gaming injury.

EDIT: well would you look at that. 190, only one block away from level 3. I’m finally getting better!

Solid and fun conversion of a low key arcade favorite, but fuel and shield drops are way random and can be nonexistent or plentiful.

Finally got unblocked in Ynxa (Lynx) and got two of the fire gems I was missing. Found an extra leaf gem too!

I got up to something like 8000 points in Super Hunchback (Game Boy) but it resets as soon as you die

I am definitely much better at Blockbuster than I’ve ever been. Looking forward to 300.

Minky Monkey (arcade) - 24700. What an annoying monkey. It’s fun until the levels roll over at level 9.

It is on loan from a friend. Many of the games are mine from the Electronics Boutique clearance of 1996, though. I have a lot of experience doing weird things with cell phone camera for nature photography :)

Mysterious Stones (arcade) - 1286270

82BF7DB1-C35C-45A8-A06A-F28B6A7F4F31.thumb.jpeg.51432fca6d86e07af3ccb7b8624a6590.jpeg

Not much of a real score because it doesn’t reset your score when you continue. A lot of virtual quarters went into this score. This means if you get top score on a real arcade machine four more quarters will give you the whole board - not good design.

Fantasy Zone (Master System): 35600. It’s appropriate they picked the second boss for the cover of the game because that is effectively the end of the game for me :P

This game is hard. I don't understand what I am doing but it seems like a simpler Protector or defender type game.

And I thought it was the Master System version I was playing but it looks completely different than yours. So maybe its the arcade.

20220226_214614.jpg

I think that’s arcade. Seems too high resolution for Master System. Here’s the Master System version:

Basically all you’re trying to do is take out the bases. You can and should spam both guns and bombs constantly. Other enemies spawn endlessly. You can collect coins to buy upgrades. Engine and bomb upgrades are permanent but shot upgrades run out quickly. It’s like a simplified combination of Defender and Scramble. Fantasy Zone II is more of the same but adds in warps.

Star Wars Rebel Forces (Tiger R-Zone): 1340

18630776-4E53-45D8-B0A7-9CADA5FCBA58.thumb.jpeg.3f79609ad65e3ed083030ae2b2cb4efa.jpeg

I didn’t care for this initially, but now that I have stuck with it a while I think it might play the best of all of the R-Zone lightgun type games. It has a difficulty curve that ramps up gradually but starts pretty challenging, and both Area 51 and Virtua Cop have ramp difficulties. It has dumb sounds for reloading and alerts, though. Level 3 has (droid?) enemies that take multiple hits and it’s a lot of hits, maybe too many. But in general it seems pretty doable.

I wish I had a manual for this one as I don’t entirely understand how grenades work and it appears you can get other weapons but I never have.
