TI ARC format?

I don't think Ti99Dir can create or modify arc files - it can't only extract files from them - but I may be wrong.

That is right ... you ar not wrong, Ti99Dir can only extract files from archives.

Is there a specification for archive file format?

 

Is it just the concatination of the TIFILES, optionally lzw'ed?

 

Ninerpedia says if it is a I/F 128 it is compressed, if D/F 128 not compressed.

 

Are there any headers like the number of files in the archive?

 

I need to write 2 implementations of this... so I don't go nuts.

I want to be able to treat them like I do disk images in the TIPI web-ui. And I want to add support to the 4A program I'm working on, since all existing 4A implementation I am told are spinny disk oriented.

In TIMT I treat archive files like directories; you can even nest archives and click yourself through the levels. One of the stress tests was to move some files from one archive in an archive to another one in another archive. Being able to just click inside an archive to open files is the thing you really want to have.

 

BTW, the LZW compression is in another file (util/LZW.java).
