Yes, this game was hard as balls back in the 80s and it's STILL HARD NOW!

 

Rant...what must I do to make it to the semblance of a second level? This game is stupid hard! The extra weapons? Useless! The AI bullets? Incredibly accurate!

 

I refuse to go online and get tips, lol.

 

I remember putting a lot of quarters into this back in the day, but I must have been a fool. It's a game that LOOKS like it should at least be do-able, but it AIN'T...the thing is harder than LOON SHIT.

 

Anybody make any headway in this game?

Well, it's an arcade game. They're meant to be quarter-munchers.

 

I'm assuming you're using MAME, yeah? You playing on a pad? Looks like the game requires turning on a moment's notice, so maybe a stick would work better for ya?

I'm not actually upset, lol ...but this game is seriously tough! I just wanted to see if any other MAMErs have had some laughs with this old school 'treat'. I keep getting my ass handed to me, and the only real way to progress is to memorize, memorize, memorize where the enemies appear. Having a proper arcade stick is mandatory (I'm using X Arcade) and there's no continues, so coupled with the enemy AI being relentless and accurate and you've got a serious fight on your hands.

 

I'll give it another year before I go to youtube for help

Hmm... never heard of that game. Kind of surprised, considering the number of hours I have logged into MAME in the last several years.

 

Looked at some screen shots, though... based on that it looks like one of those arcade-style games that just requires tons of practice and/or Jedi skills to survive.

I made it to the "warden" level before on one credit - then was quickly decimated.

 

The RGP weapon is useful for attacking enemies in vehicles and enemies hidden in windows and terraces. It also allows you destroys those gas canes for secret points.

 

The best way to advance in this game (you mentioned it in a previous post) is to memorize the enemies attack patterns when they're first on-screen.

You have my respect, lol. I'm going to go try again. I know about the secret points in the barrels, but other than that the extra weapons don't seem to be too useful other than blowing up the trucks.

Huh, the speech synthesis in this game sounds like it's the same as the one in Punch-Out, I wonder if any other arcade games used it?

What difficulty are you playing on ? Drop it to easy and see if you make more headway.
