ApolloBoy #1 Posted May 5, 2003 I just pulled Star Ship out from the trash and I decided to fix it. However, I need to know how to open up a 2600 cart. I just unscrewed it, but I can't pull it apart! What do I do?

ApolloBoy #5 Posted May 5, 2003 Ooops sorry! Just pull REALLY hard.. I pulled it as hard as I could... still didn't open. I believe there must be a type of latch holding it together.
CPUWIZ #6 Posted May 5, 2003 There is 6 of them to be precise, you need to push in the bottom of the cart to see how they work and you should be able to figure it out.

ApolloBoy #8 Posted May 5, 2003 There is 6 of them to be precise, you need to push in the bottom of the cart to see how they work and you should be able to figure it out. Which bottom? Could you be a little more specific, CPU?
Miqorz #9 Posted May 5, 2003 I think he means the bottom of the cart.

Albert #13 Posted May 5, 2003 First, take the screw out. Then hold the cartridge with both hands so the back of the cartridge faces your left palm and the label side faces your right palm. The open end of the cartridge should face away from you, with the end label towards you. Then place the fingertips of your right hand along the bottom edge of the right half of the cartridge (relative to you). Now, use the heel of your left hand to push the left cartridge shell away from you, and use the fingers on your right hand to push the right half of the cartridge shell towards you. While doing this, pull the two cartridge halves apart along the edge where your fingers are. Basically by doing this you are pushing a row of three tabs on the cart away from one edge of the cartridge, and it should come apart easily. 95% of carts come apart with little effort when you get this down pat. Also, you can move the fingers on your right hand along the edge of the cart so they are in a different position relative to the tabs if you can't get the cart open on the first try. And, make sure that the dust dover isn't "stuck", as this can also cause the cart to not come apart easily. ..Al
Nukey Shay #14 Posted May 5, 2003 lol I think that he means the side opposite from the large label. When you press on it, the seams along the sides of the cart should spread slightly...so you can see which seam overlaps the other.
ApolloBoy #15 Posted May 5, 2003 Well, I finally got it open. Thanks alot, CPUWIZ! However, Star Ship turned out to be dead after all. I then tore off the front label and put it back in the trash. I hope I can find another Star Ship at next month's flea market.
