Jim Pez #1 Posted November 2, 2016 (edited) I was looking on goggle and found a few upscalers that upscale coaxial to hdmi. any of you ever tried any of these with your pre nes consoles ? Edited November 2, 2016 by jim1174
+Gemintronic #2 Posted November 2, 2016 Could you provide links? It looks like what you want is an RF de-modulator. Those things are usually expensive - to the point it makes sense to grab a used VCR and a composite to HDMI converter.
Jim Pez #3 Posted November 2, 2016 What i was looking for is something like the framemeister that has a thing where you can plug in a coaxial cable. https://www.amazon.com/CoolDigital-Composite-Converter-Upscaler-Supports/dp/B01AUPFTYG/ref=as_li_ss_tl?s=videogames&ie=UTF8&qid=1478079704&sr=8-1&keywords=coaxial+upscaler&linkCode=ll1&tag=atariage&linkId=d5a0130542f0071742ce71211b5a27f4
Austin #4 Posted November 2, 2016 You would be better off having your pre-NES consoles modded (RGB if at all possible), then use an upscaler with that.
+Gemintronic #5 Posted November 2, 2016 (edited) Product Input ports: 1 x HDMI Port, 1 x RCA input (colored as yellow, white and red) Product Output ports: 1 x HDMI out, 1 x 3.5mm Audio, 1 x Coaxial ^^ Just as I thought. It takes HDMI or those red/white/yellow RCA inputs and *outputs* coax. It's just another modulator: not a de-modulator. Not calling the original poster out for being wrong. Rather that the advertisement was confusing as heck. Edited November 2, 2016 by Gemintronic
mickcris #6 Posted November 2, 2016 The coaxial output is digital audio.
+madman #7 Posted November 2, 2016 You get what you pay for with upscalers. Googling around looking up reviews on the cheapo units being used for video games will generally bring negative feedback.
NinjaWarrior #8 Posted November 3, 2016 (edited) OMG dude, Are you serious? It will look like Crap on a HDTV with HDMI ..Just get it RGB Modded & a CRT Set Edited November 3, 2016 by NinjaWarrior
mickcris #9 Posted November 3, 2016 as far as i know, there is no RF (what the OP is calling coaxial) to hdmi scaler for sale. they do have composite video to hdmi, so you would have to go through something like a vcr to get composite video, then you could do hdmi from that. all the hdmi scalers that have coaxial in the name are referring to the audio being sent out via a coaxial digital audio jack (which looks like an rca jack). something like this would probably work, but cant comment on the quality http://www.ambery.com/anvitodvcowi.html
