Inky #1 Posted May 5, 2003 2600 Pac-Man sucks. So Does ET And Donkey Kong And the Swordquest games Is it just me or is it getting pretty redunant when people bring up best-worst list and these 4 games always get mentioned? I think just about everybody in here is in agreement that they stink (although not to the same degree)
MegaManFan #2 Posted May 5, 2003 Actually I've always said 2600 Pac-Man doesn't suck, it's just got the wrong name. If it had been called "Head Chase" or "Maze Madness" or "Broken Neck 4K Run" it would have been fine. There's really no reason for it to be called Pac-Man anyway since it doesn't look anything like it.
Inky #3 Posted May 5, 2003 While you are correct (I actually found myself enjoying the game rather recently), the thing is that when bad games are brought up, the ones I mentioned are always on the list, and it's pretty redundant at this point. Maybe one of the Al's should add a section to the FAQ about games, so whenever some newb posts "Why does Pac-Man suck so bad?" we can just point them to it. CT #5 Posted May 5, 2003 Its strange that 3 of the 4 games you mentioned were once my favorite games (especially ET), and yet I don't think my taste in games is all that bad.
RCorcoran #6 Posted May 5, 2003 I suppose I have two (2) defective brain bits... I actually like Tod Frye's version of Pacman (or whatever you want to call it). Granted, the version Rob put together is far superior, the original Atari production isn't as bad as say... E.T. Then again, I only play Game 6, Diff A. Just another opinion in the sea of opinion... Vic George 2K3 #7 Posted May 5, 2003 Yeah, I think it's getting redundant. But I would still play 2600 Donkey Kong over 2600 Pac-Man on any given day.
Witchfynde #8 Posted May 5, 2003 Newbies also putting up posts fairly often asking "I found this thing called a Supercharger at the thrift the other day, what is it exactly?" is a bit redundant too. But hey--they're new.
eldunko #9 Posted May 6, 2003 I knew the shady legend of ET even before I was in 100 feet of the game, a game that will forever be compared to a pile of donkey crap. There's just no escaping that kind of rep. Think of it as a drunk story, your friends will keep bringing it up long after you've sobered up, even if its not funny... Well i guess it is kinda funny though, 5 million copies...heh
TaoNakamora #10 Posted May 6, 2003 If they truly wanted it to be Pac-man they could have a GreenBay Packers fan running away from refs, players,Tv reporters, coaches, and other things!!!!!
tyranthraxus #11 Posted May 6, 2003 Not only are they bad games but were huge dissapointments in their day. Most of the games on the 2600 are bad but those ones were games people had big expectations for. While there was no expectations for Chase the Chuckwagon, hell there was no market demand for that game! John
hhwolfman #12 Posted May 6, 2003 I got the 2600 pacman with my Atari 2600. I was so poor that was the only cartridge I had for a while. I had to buy the unit myself. I thought to myself when I popped it in ( hey this isnt very much like the arcade) then I played it for 2 weeks straight and loved it. I think it is all in prospective. If you have never had, anything is the best thing in the world. I have played it recently and still like it.
Inky #13 Posted May 6, 2003 I guess what I'm getting at is that there are so many questions that get asked here, that we need to have a page o topic links at the top of the boards. Like a link for best / worst game threads, link to topics about the supercharger, etc., and make them stick so that n00bs can easily access those topics. Brian R. #15 Posted May 6, 2003 Careful with the faq-frenzy. If you go and put everything in a faq, there'd be almost nothing left to talk about. Besides, I hate it when I go to a message board and post a question I would like answered, and rather than getting a straight answer, all I get are smart [email protected]@ answers like, "Read the farkin' faq, you farkin' moron!" I think we can be a little more helpful and friendly around there than that.
Thomas Jentzsch #16 Posted May 6, 2003 How about a Newbie Forum then? All threads that contain questions which are often asked by newbies are collected there too. And when you become a new member you are advised to have a look at the newbie forum first.

tkarner #18 Posted May 7, 2003 Yup, seems that every week we get a new thread about how some game sucks. Does get repetitive after a while. But personally I will never tire of complaining about 2600 Pac-Man. I can only dream that Todd Frye is lurking here and gets to see how hated his evil creation really is! Dr. Frankenstein, Dr. Moreau, Dr. Mengele, and now T. Frye... Damn, I can be cruel when I want to.
