Vendoefel
Hello, I'm from Belgium so me English is not so good (I have help from Google translate) :-) My dad gave me his 2 old colecos I hooked them up on the TV but they both gave no image. I'm now working on the first coleco, I desolderd the on/of switch cleaned him en soldered it back on. There is an image now on the TV but it is snowy grey and no sound (c picture) What could be the problem or next step to do ? thanks
+-^CrossBow^-
At first glance, you likely need to try running it on channel 3 or 4. I don't recall the CV working on channel 1 on any region? Someone definitely correct me if I'm wrong here? Vendoefel
i only have an image on channel 1 - not on 3 or 4 or any other channel
Lord Innit
Do you have a remote control with "menu" on it? If so, press that and you might get a menu on screen and hopefully "Auto tune" will be an option somewhere. Try that first.
Milli V
Adjust the RF modulator to tune the station
Milli V
You can adjust these screws to clear up the signal and audio

Vendoefel
Bad Luck, the screw what i think is zamak material broke/crumbled when i tried to adjust it. Im gonna try to put a drop of tin on it and then heat a screw driver and put it in the drop of tin.. Hopefully that will work
Vendoefel
So i did the auto tune on the tv and the image is much brighter with less snow (c picture)Adjust the RF modulator to tune the station has no effect. Next thing that i can try to do ?
SiLic0ne t0aD
I wouldn't waste your time with the old, snowy RF... I'd A/V composite mod it if I were you. Sound and picture quality are a huge improvement with composite vs RF.

Vendoefel
Is probably the best option but the shipping cost to Belgium would be to high. Gonna try do it myself then by following the instructions.
Vendoefel
I just bought a composite A/V mod kit from ebay PAL version from http://www.ebay.com/itm/182205220905?_trksid=p2060353.m2749.l2649&var=484186335568&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT Hopefully that will work for me. Jinks
It may or may not. I have found colecos need a fully functioning rf to get a comp mod to work as it is just using those signals from the rf board and do not decode further down the line like at the vdp and sound chips. The video section on the rf for me is extremely difficult to understand.
cdn2a
Just a shot in the dark here, but I think if your getting signal on Ch1, in Belgium, your on different broadcast frequencies for your channels. Soo, that means your RF is most likely working fine, if you do the composite mod it should work. It's like trying to get a Japanese Famicom to work in North America, it can be done, but easier to do composite, vs an RF channel shift. I caution on using the Transistor mod, and recommend the LM318 one, the transistor can have a very short lifespan. Good luck.
Vendoefel
Yesterday i finally received the kit and installed it today. but unfortunately the image is not what i expected. I have colour now instead of snow Only the colour is generally blue and almost no other colours. The sound works perfect !! Next possible option ? Jinks
I would call it the smurf limited edition mod.
cdn2a
Do you have a pic of the mod? Do you have a pic of the Systemboard with mod installed?
