mr_me
Anyone would be hard pressed to find arcade cabinets that allow the stick on the right hand especially in multiplayers (Gauntlet is one of them, and there's a few ambidextrous single player with button(s) on both sides like Amidar but that's it) and I mean classics like Vanguard, Qix, Joust, DK, Mario Bros etc..... all have the stick on the left. It always puzzled me how in the arcades I had to use my left hands for the stick and the right for the buttons but not with my VCS without bizarre maneuvers. So the NES/Famicom got it right I'd say. See this. http://atariage.com/forums/topic/258513-when-joysticks-got-replaced-with-gamepads/?p=3631618
Rick Dangerous
I'd say equal impact, one generation apart. It was the VCS, then the NES, then Genesis/SNES, PS1, PS2, Wii/XBox360, PS4 as industry influencers of their era...
