FS: Mario Bros. for the Atari XE (XL) - CIB

Up for sale is Mario Bros Atari XE Video Game Cartridge. I understand that this particular XE cart requires 64K of RAM. This game is compatible with all XE and XL computer systems.

I acquired this game over 20 years ago, and since I didn't own an Atari XE system at the time, I kept it in storage among my other games just in case I acquired one. Fast forward two decades and one cross-country move, and I'm at the point where I'm winnowing down my collection to some core systems. As a result, Mario Bros is looking for a new home.

I've included several photos of the box. Unfortunately, the box has developed an obvious dent on the lower portion, which is particularly visible along the bottom flap and along the back side of the box. However, the overall colour of the box art is still vibrant, and I think it would satisfy most collectors interested in acquiring CIB games. The instructions have been creased along the top from the cart being moved in and out of the box occasionally over the years (I wasn't paying attention once and crimped the paper).

I would classify the cartridge as "minty" as it's in real pristine condition. From my review, I'm not even sure this game was played more than once or twice. For example, the edge connector on this cartridge is still shiny gold. Usually you'll find used XE games (or for any system, for that matter) where the gold has been worn down to the silver on the edge traces from repeated cartridge slot use.

Game stored in cool and dry area, as well as smoke-free conditions.

Being greedy, I guess!

 

I looked very carefully at sold prices for loose carts on eBay, and speculation for CIB here, and adjusted for price differences between loose and CIB based on what I've seen in general for other games. If this price belongs on eBay, no worries, it will be there soon enough and bidders can have their final say.

It is an exceptional title for the A8, and it is rare to find. To find it this minty in-box is even rarer.

 

If that's what it's going for on eBay, why not?

I remember looking for it, and I couldn't find a no-box cart for less than $80, if I remember.
