The Atari 7800 Homebrew Podcast

I'd read that book! I recently picked up Mark Bussler's (of Classic Game Room fame) Pac-Man book. It's a fun little read.

I keep an eye on your blog but I figured it was just a legacy thing as it hasn't been updated in a while (I'm not judging!).

I've always found Pac-Man and its impact on popular and gaming culture to be fascinating. I work with kids 5-12 and most of them know of Pac-Man even though they've never played any of the games. That's some impact!

I'll keep an ear to the ground in case you do decide to go for it. If you don't, well, at least I'll still have the PFP. :)

So...my "burnout" episode is out as of yesterday. I'd love to hear your thoughts. (And upon listening back, I noticed that I really need to stop saying "what happens is" and variations on same.) I don't know what to think about the final result though.

Episode 36, featuring the Mateos rewritable 16-in-1 multicart, has been released! This episode examines another piece of homebrew hardware, this time the only currently available option for playing ROM files on your ProSystem. Sean also takes a dive into podiatry. (What does he hear? Tune in to find out!)

Episode 38 has been freed to the masses! This hardware-focused episode takes a look at the Edladdin line of products, with a guest appearance by Ed himself!

Thank you. It seemed like every podcast hath took a summer break. The only blip I saw this morning was a podcast that was talking about a Final Fantasy game. Ugh.

Pie Factory hasn't taken a break, btw. We recorded a new episode last week, but we're having some...issues...with our....post-production team.

If you want my 5200 lot, I can arrange a road trip to Galloping Ghost one of these weekends. 4-port model . 1 out of the 3 controllers work!

I'm trying to de-clutter.

Yesss! Going to listen to this right now.

EDIT - Excellent episode  It was great to hear from Ed, especially concerning the future Super 5200. I can't wait for that. Dauber, it's never too early to start looking for another 5200. :-D

BTW, nice shout-out concerning the 7800 Prosystem Joystick by AA member UberArcade. This is an excellent 8-way stick. Love the build quality and choice of left/right handed stick.

Hi, friends. Just wanted to give y'all an update...

First of all, show notes for episode 40 have been posted, in case you're interested. You can go to homebrew78.fab4it.com - lots of links for this episode!

Also, for episode 41, I'm covering some never-carted football-ish (both "real" and American) games: Touchdown Challenge, Soccer Challenge, and World Cup. Sorry for the late notice, but just wanted to let you know in case you wanted to submit some feedback. Quite honestly, I don't think at this point I'll be able to include feedback in the episode, given the time crunches, but I can address it later.

The games haven't been released on a cartridge, but you can get the ROMs and run them on your favorite emulator or 7800 multicart:

I like it. Nice & consistent with the console.

Always made me wonder: Why has nobody cashed in on making backwards controllers? NES pads with the D-pad on the right. There's gotta be a market out there for it.

Contact DanthWader. He might do one for you.

I hope he does one with two D pads, so the I can play robotron.

Episode 46 takes a look at some unfinished games from 7800 homebrewer extraordinaire PacManPlus. Even in their unfinished states, these games still demonstrate Bob DeCrescenzo's amazing talent.

Oh, and...episode 45 was released two weeks ago and I totally forgot to post about it! Episode 45 wraps up the remaining titles from frankodragon...at least until he produces more. :)

Dauber:

You are awesome.

I just listened to episode 46.

Thank you for your continued kind words and support for me. Very cool that you used some of my songs in the background! If you're ever in Florida, please let me know. I owe you a beer.

*You* have got to be one of the nicest people I will eventually meet. :)

I may come back to one or two of them (ReZolve, and one that you missed, "Adventure III: The Race for the Chalice") :D ...and possibly Defender...

Also, I had COMPLETELY forgotten about the game that I was going to port a long time ago (that I never started)... and I STILL can't remember the name of it, even though you mentioned it in the Podcast numerous times... :P
