glazball
OK so which of you gurus can do this mod for me? I'd be happy to supply parts as needed, but I'm really not technically inclined and might get the wrong thing. I'd love a simple, clean install and just go directly to the Framemeister. PM me! +KylJoy
Last two weeks I've been using OSSC 1.6 with Odyssey 2 and 4x mode and its really good. I haven't tried the O² on an OSSC. Is it nicer than on a Framemeister xRGB-mini?
+grips03
I haven't tried the O² on an OSSC. Is it nicer than on a Framemeister xRGB-mini? I no longer own XRGB mini. I have the older XRGB2 and OSSC looks slightly nicer due to 4x mode. My Sony TV does not support 5x mode. However OSSC is more limited: OSSC does not support composite video input OSSC does not support S-video input Has euro scart input; most of RGB cables I own are RGB21 (Japan), so need to add adapter or re-buy 10 RGB cables OSSC won't sync with Intellivision RGB. Intellivision syncs with PVM and XRGB2. Not sure why this is the case. Has no on screen display and LCD panel is very small to read from distance OSSC has no frame buffer and hence can not convert 50Hz signal to 60Hz if playing a 50Hz RGB console on 60Hz NTSC TV. This means I can't play G7400 Videopac+ using OSSC on my NTSC only TV. OSSC remote does not yet have overlay, so you need to remember what each button does. +grips03
Tensility no longer makes the "10-00438" DIN 8 270 degree cable. Looks like Amazon has several types of DIN 8 cables to pick from, so should be easy enough to find one to use.

+grips03
I thought this might be of interest. Small dots have nothing to do RGB board, TV, RGB adapter, or cable. It is how the games were programmed. Q. When playing O2 games using RGB I notice small flashing dots on screen in different spots based on the game being played.Example:K.C. Krazy Chase = small red flashing dots in the lower / center part of TV screen.UFO and K.C. Munchkin = small red flashing dots at the top of the screenMage the Final Journey = small red flashing dots at the left of the screenAny ideas of the cause? A. Yes, this is caused by changing the background color mid-screen. With a normal RF connection the dots are too small to notice, but with an RGB connection they are clearly visible. What happens is that when data is loaded into VDC register A3, the write pulse occurs too soon, before the data is available on the data bus. At that moment the databus still contains the address (A3), so that is used as background color briefly before the actual data (color) is written to register A3. Do you have any references here on the forum? I have this mod as well as an A/V mod on hand that I've been putting off because I don't want to kill another poor Odyssey. sphiend
For wiring the outputs: 2 questions. 1) IDC Pin 6 = SR / Status RGB - not used for XRGB Does XRGB here mean a XRGB Mini Framemeister? I have both a framemeister and a BVM. Id prefer to use one cable for both. Is Status RGB required for the BVM? 2) You posted some diagrams above regarding the scart wiring. Just want to confirm that is the diagram to follow.

+chicgamer
I finally got around to installing the RGB mod in my Odyssey 2, and I'm thrilled with the results! Below is footage of K.C.'s Krazy Chase I captured from it. I currently have the Odyssey 2 sound going to the right channel and the Voice going to the left channel, but eventually I plan to mix the audio from the Odyssey 2 and the Voice together and send to both channels.

+chicgamer
Did you do internal voice module mod? No, I'm not quite knowledgeable enough to do that. I just installed an audio output from my Voice that I can connect to a cable that's attached to the left channel output of the RGB mini DIN.
