Luck with SIO2OSX Internet Modem

Recommended Posts

Hi, I just started playing around with the idea of setting up a BBS. I'm using SIO2OSX in Yosemite and trying to get the Internet Modem to work. I have a connection working between my 130ex and SIO2OSX, I've tried using Bobterm and have been able to connect to a BBS.

So has anyone been able to use the Internet Modem to run a BBS and have someone connect to it? I've set up port forwarding on my router and am using Dyndns.com to handle the changing ip address, but I'm having no luck at all. I'm sure I'm missing a lot of things. I am using BBS Express 850 to test.

Any point in the right direction would be appreciated.

Cheers,

DOB

What port are you using on the server side? Telnet is port 23 and would be good for testing and setup but ultimately you'll want to run it on a different port to stay away from all the internet bots that will annoy you on port 23.

I don't have a MAC so cannot help much with the SIO2OSX stuff.

What do your modem settings look like in the internet modem?

I'm using port 520. I enabled the server and set it to auto answer. There isn't much other options to set in the internet modem. I may try run an emulator first on a windows machine to see if I have any luck there. Are you using an emulator or hardware for your BBS? How are you getting the ports directed to your BBS?
