john_rm_1970 #1 Posted December 24, 2016 Hi, Anyone got a spare UK power supply they don't want ? Mine has gone walkabout and I currently have no idea where it is. I have moved house recently and have this feeling I may have left it in the loft of my old property. Failing that, is it possible to use a US/Canadian PSU with a step-down converter ? Really grateful for any help, Cheers, John.
PkK #2 Posted February 8, 2017 (edited) If you use a FR or DE power supply, you just need a simple adapter plug, instead of having to use a converter. They probably are be easier to obtain from the UK than US ones, too. Philipp P.S.: But working ColecoVision power supplies, no matter from which country, are not easy to find. In my experience bad power supplies are one of the main causes of ColecoVision problems, in particular graphics problems. john_rm_1970 #3 Posted February 9, 2017 The FR and DE ones are just as rare as the UK ones. It seems this is a inherent problem with this console, and if you happen to get one without a PSU, or your's dies, you are pretty-much screwed. A PSU might come up on Ebay every 3-5 months, they go for silly money, and don't last long on the bidding. The only solution is a converter, like in this thread. http://atariage.com/forums/topic/261997-new-power-supplies-for-the-colecovision/ From here http://0711spiele.de/zubehoer/colecovision-netzteil-ersatz-power-supply-adapter-replacement-kit-neu/ But no stock.
