arcade ephemera

Recommended Posts

I was searching Google for something else and came across this ephemera advertising the arcade game Jungle King (1982). It certainly is quite fetching for obvious reasons. I guess video arcade manufacturers had marketing departments and would mail out these brochures to arcade, tavern, restaurant owners, etc. to advertise their latest games.

Sega took their Moto-Cross arcade cabinet and slapped "Fonz" all over it to take advantage of the Happy Days craze. I wonder if it had a level where he had to "jump the shark"?

Love these and have amassed a large collection myself! arcade flyers were mainly made available at shows, arcade machine distributors, (places like World Wide Distributing BITD) and coin-op companies themselves where vendors, operators and other business owners would peruse and pluck from displays. Some were really risqué and weren't intended to be mailed out en masse or individually to arcades, bars, restaurants, etc. (besides, most businesses do not own the arcade machines in their establishment) which is why when you usually see them, they're typically in great shape, intact and unfolded. Instead and if anything, usually see the distributors info stamped on them. Sometimes was even a white rectangular placeholder somewhere on the flyer for such a stamp.

I'm gonna have to get one of these Arcade Legends cabinets -- Golden Tee and 130 other games. Maybe I can find one for a good price on CL.

Possibly. But I know they appeared in trade magazines like Replay and Play Meter.
