How to use Magic Dump II in Altirra..

Saw this right hand slot cart in one of the directories of mine and presumed it would boot up like Monkey Wrench does but that's not happening here, am I missing something, there's no obvious cart activation button on any of the cart pics I've seen..

 

Tried most things, is the image which was posted by Breaker a while back broken, I can find a mention of it not working in Altirra 2.00 but no reply from Avery.

 

Just interested more than anything..

I appended Monkey Wrench and BASIC together to make a 16K ROM, then used Altirra to add a .car header. It works on my Ultimate Cart.

 

If you post the rom file of Magic Dump here, I'll see what I can do with it.

Got it to work but by a hack, spotted it loaded in to $8000 and ran it from $8011 and up comes the menu and it works but I'm not tech enough to know why the file does not autorun.

 

After a bit of disassembly I see its checking D209 for a key press and seeing if its 9C, not got a list of key codes to hand to see what that key is..

 

Thank you compute, its looking for a CTRL ESC I believe

 

I give up...Tried comparing to a different key but no joy, it just locks up yet if you run from 8011 it works..

I seem to remember reading somewhere that this cart had some extra electronics on board and would not run directly from a raw dump.

Here's a zip of MD2+BASIC as a 16K cart. Will test on real hardware later, can't press ctrl-esc in Altirra cause start menu pops up.

Quick testing has revealed that it works, but there are conditions.

 

It won't respond to the trigger sequence ctrl-esc (then any key) press with anything other than OS A or OS B. Use X=USR(32785) on XL/XE instead.

 

It doesn't seem to like SDX.

 

The Save options only save to C:

Thank you Allan and now Ctrl + \ replaces the Ctrl + ESC and hit space and the old menu comes up as it should..
