October 1-2 1981?

The pic on my sears tele 6 switch was a litte fuzzy so I opened it up to look inside. All is good. I blew out all the dust and wiped it with a napkin. While indie side a noticed a loose paper with the date on it October 1st 1981 and October 2 on the other side. I just added the tape to keep it in place. I remember the whole serial number code thing but I don't remember seeing anything about papers with a date. The guy I bought it from said he had it in his basement for storage and he never opened it up or fiddled with it. Was this a factory thing or maybe somebody put it there.

 

 

 

 

And also all was good after I put it back together. Nothing was broken. But after playing some I broke the reset switch. I can still use the tip of a WIIU stylus to spring it back and play so all is good. But if needed fixing would it require soldering because I suck at soldering.

Everyone that can't solder and is into classic consoles seriously needs to take a soldering class or practice on some junk boards. This is a skill that is as important as changing batteries. I'm willing to bet that many people here would offer to solder it for you for free if you send them the board and some return postage.

Still works so good enough for now. Maybe just ebay it. I can't solder. Or I saw pics I can just take off the metal shield and replace the switch part.

Ok all is good now. I practiced taking off the metal cover off the broken switch very carfully and did it. Now I just need to find a new cheap switch. No soldering. Just Never ordered from best electronics before.

I've got a unit or two with those paper dates on them. I always thought those were dates when the unit was serviced.

I have seen several units with paper and a date like that on. Just one date though. I figured it was an inspection date.

As for the switch anywhere besides best electronics to get a reset switch. Ebay is 15 dollars. Way too much.

Oh, plus I forgot I still have a 7800 I got recently. So I think I will just ebay this. Unless there are any controllers or games that don't work on 7800 or JR. But as long as my cx40 works its all good. Not for 7800 games but for say space invaders 2600 version at least.

I fixed it with a screw temporarily. Chipped a little of the switch plastic but she works now. No harm except the switch I broke. I mean she turns on reset even works for space invaders and others.
