xxx #1 Posted January 10, 2017 (edited) hi, im a little bit confused. the tia chip has 4 video outputs; 3 x luminace and a colour output. is it rgb? or YPbPr? or some other kind of split video signal? Edited January 10, 2017 by xxx
alex_79 #2 Posted January 10, 2017 (edited) The 3 luminance pins are digital outputs (representing a 3 bit number, which allows for 8 different values of luminance). They are combined through a "resistor ladder" to form the single analog luminance signal. With these outputs you can get composite or s-video out of the TIA with simple modifications. An RGB mod does exists, but it involves more than just a simple digital-to-analog conversion and amplification. The 2600RGB board sits between the CPU and the TIA and completely bypasses the TIA color generation to achieve that.
