I'm inquiring about a large room we can use. I'm not up for managing or hosting a large event but this location/business should have a room we can use.  I'm thinking under about thirty people as an invite only function.

I don't think you have to worry about large crowds.  At our peak at think we only had 15 or so people at any one time.

We have the right to peacefully assemble. There is no law in Michigan or any state that I'm aware of that mandates masks or any alleged flu/virus protocols. Anyone trying to stop us or fine us acting under the color of law is a criminal subject to up to life in prison and/or the death penalty.

Quote

Summary:

  • Section 242 of Title 18 makes it a crime for a person acting under color of any law to willfully deprive a person of a right or privilege protected by the Constitution or laws of the United States.

For the purpose of Section 242, acts under "color of law" include acts not only done by federal, state, or local officials within their lawful authority, but also acts done beyond the bounds of that official's lawful authority, if the acts are done while the official is purporting to or pretending to act in the performance of his/her official duties. Persons acting under color of law within the meaning of this statute include police officers, prisons guards and other law enforcement officials, as well as judges, care providers in public health facilities, and others who are acting as public officials. It is not necessary that the crime be motivated by animus toward the race, color, religion, sex, handicap, familial status or national origin of the victim.

The offense is punishable by a range of imprisonment up to a life term, or the death penalty, depending upon the circumstances of the crime, and the resulting injury, if any.

With regard to 'emergency powers' these were only ever intended to be as a very short term measure until the state legislature can convene and pass a law. Emergency powers were never intended to last a full year and especially never intended to implement a new medical dictatorial socialist government.  We are not free if we blindly obey and blindly believe TV fear porn.  If you don't want to risk your health for any number of reasons, stay at home.

I wasn't saying otherwise, I was just saying that with Covid being so active in MI that everyone may not be comfortable getting in close quarters with other people.  I know I'm not, at least not yet.   I'll see what things look like in a few months.

Hey, I’m came across this thread when looking for vintage computer group in Michigan. I’m in the downriver Michigan area are still looking for a group to converse with and exchange ideas/equipment/information with.

I'm downriver too (Flat Rock).  I'm still interested in trying to do a get together, but I'm not good at organizing these sort of things.

I've inquired again about a room. Earlier this year one was not allowed for use.  South-central MI.

I presume it will be a registration required, not open for general public event. Many details are unknown about what they do and don't provide. Perhaps tables and chairs but no dedicated security guard but they do have some security staff afaik.

Perhaps after the holidays and if we can get a few more people involved then we can make this happen. I have no issues trying to coordinate something if there is enough interest.
