Road Rash pre-alpha on Jaguar at 30 fps

I did the 12,000 mile round trip from the U.K to Portland via LAX last year. So flying the distance you need to go should be easily doable if you want to spend the whole weekend there.

But do you actually find flying easier than driving as you age?

I only have experience of driving in U.K. from London (over a decade or so ago), so totally not sure exactly how comfortably driveable is the rest of U.K. Whenever your highways (M1-M4) make it to the TV, they only show 10-mile traffic jams - hopefully that's not the norm 50 miles out of London...

I had a direct flight Denver->London, but it was much worse than 3-days of driving from Jersey to Montana. At least on the flight back, due to the brutal storm in Denver, they rerouted us to Las Vegas for 24 hours. British Airways was nice to provide a hotel in a casino and $75 vouchers for food :)

When I was in a car shop today, I realized I did over 30,000 miles in 18 months in Montana across the few road trips I did - that's over 50,000 km. That would have seemed impossible to me back in Europe, but with 12-hour playlists on Spotify it's super easy.

I still find it fascinating that within 24 hours of driving I can experience brutal blizzards with -50F windchills (by the Rocky mountains) and +75F sunshine (by the sea). Or, that there are areas in Montana, where you drive over 60 minutes at 5 pm before you spot a single car or a truck :)

Give it a few more months, he'll disappear again, and then go back to his 8-bit experiments.  Maybe in 12 months, he can play on the 7800 some.  Might be 18 months if he has to move again.

I don't blame him, after reading this whole thread I'm guessing the Lynx forum isn't full cunts. I'm a-guessing that's more inspirational.

No cunts here.  We just get tired of 4 to 5 years of broken promises, I'm gonna do this, oh I got distracted, I am gonna do that, oh I moved, oh - I am gonna do this, oh different platform, oh I am doing this now, etc. ad infinitum.

All of that, and without audio to boot.

Spend several years here touting your programming prowess but producing nothing while denigrating those who actually put out games, and you'll generally receive cuntish treatment.

Actually, I hate to disappoint you, but you still will. PRGE is in 3 months, this week I'll go get a vendor table.  Anyone can play it there, though pre-order won't start before January 1,2020.

The reason I'm in Lynx right now is that I must wait with any income till end of this financial year. No point in releasing it 3-4 months sooner.

So, I might as well merge 2 things - 6502 coding and potential new HW platform. Highly likely Lynx is a totally miniscule market, but that doesn't bother me much.

The deadline for Lynx competition is 2nd week of August, which still gives me ~8 weeks before PRGE.

It's obviously highly risky proposition to finish the game of my standards within next 5 weeks, and for a completely new platform (Lynx), but I'll give it my best and see how far I get. Even if I don't finish the game that I want right now, I'll still end up with lots of 6502 ASM code for later.

TLDR: Do I really need to post a GIF with exact determination of number of flying fu*ks I actually give whether *you* believe the above or not   ?

That is the single smartest thing said in this thread in a very long time.

Yes. Missing Audio has hurt me. If I had it, I would have gone for release 3-4 months ago, as there was a moment, when it was realistic and financial year thing wouldn't have mattered at that time.

I got burnt on using Atari's audio lib last year in summer. I think I burnt 2-3 weeks on it, slowly fixing it, trying to get it to work. Then I realized I could never trust that code completely. So I decided to implement audio from scratch by myself rather than trying to keep fixing the broken Atari's lib and hoping for the best.

Audio is actually very high on my pre-PGRE list. Like, No 2. I don't need no more gameplay or engine features. It's waaaay more than good enough.

Oh, darling - nice try, but you conveniently keep forgetting I'm not some clueless fucking manager, but I write every single goddamn line of the code :)

Disclaimer:

This is not a free-time, weekend-only activity anymore. In fact, I burn through over $100 a day (monthly living costs / 30.5), just breathing. It [hopefully] shouldn't take a genius to calculate that I burn through $10,000 cash in under 3 months. Now, I'm way past that already, but the life experience encountered along the way, is way, way, waaaay more than just worth it, even if I don't sell a single cart :)

The quickest way to shut up (or even convert) critics is to prove them wrong.  And since--in the 300 days since the quoted post--you've essentially spent over $300, 000 developing this game(well, "just breathing"), I'd like to see it happen too.  I mean, who doesn't want to see what that kind of money and dedication produces?

2. To avoid throwing gobs of cash/taxes to IRS (for non-US folks, it's the government taxes), I will not sell any cart in 2018

Couldn't release the game in 2018 due to taxes. Can't release the game in 2019 because he can't make any income this year. Makes sense.

It isn't so productive to criticize people all the time.

If VladR can't produce a game, he can't produce a game. If he does produce one then great. This community is great but could be 1000x better by limiting the criticism.

These are not the droids you are looking for. Move along.
