No; the Game Gear has a far bigger color palette than the stock Genesis. They never came up with a way around that.

Wow. I've had a Retron 5 for a couple years now, and despite its limitations I've always been satisfied with it. Nice to see they're still doing development for it, and even though I have the PBC I will probably still get this adapter for the Game Gear and SMS Card games. Much as I'd like to see a TG-16 converter, I understand if it just isn't feasible, but my system is hooked up so it's all good.

Anyone tested this with the Mega SG, now that we have updated firmware for their official adapters? I wasn't able to get one from them (sold out crazy fast), and I'm not excited about the prospect of paying $20+ for their shipping. I'll definitely fork over the cash for the Analogue Pocket when the time comes, though
