IAmTheZOOM
Hello, I received my Harmony Cart today. I put it in my 7800 and it didn't boot up. I checked it several times, each time powering on/off, nothing. I made sure the ROM files were correct....nothing. Hooked it upto my Mac OS X computer, says it wasn't recognized. Checked the actual card inside the cartridge, looked like it was fine. I just tried reattaching the cartridge to my Mac again, nothing still. (Screenshot shows). Is there anything I can do to remedy this? Please let me know. - Danny

+SpiceWare
Hooked it upto my Mac OS X computer, says it wasn't recognized. ... Is there anything I can do to remedy this? Per the Harmony Software and BIOS topic, try installing a driver on your Mac. To use the software, plug your Harmony cart into your computer. The drivers should already be on your computer as the Harmony is detected as a USB-to-serial port. If the drivers do not install automatically, you may download them for your operating system here. Make sure you download drivers for the FT232R chip. I have the file FTDIUSBSerialDriver_v2_2_18.dmg, found on that driver page, in my Mac's downloads directory from 2012. Thomas Jentzsch
The cart doesn't boot in the 7800 too. That would be two simultaneous errors. Pretty unlikely, IMO, But you are right, trying to fix the computer issue is worth a try.
+SpiceWare
I know the driver's solved issues for others on the Mac, like SmileyDude. I also recall instances of the Harmony not working when it first arrived, and that reprogramming it via the copmuter fixed it, but my google-fu is failing me at the moment. IAmTheZOOM
Nope. Still not working.
IAmTheZOOM
Hello, I got it to the point it works, however, it flickers. And when you turn it off, and turn it back on, I need to reload the driver. - Danny
+SpiceWare
Glad you got it somewhat working. Having to reload the driver's odd. By flicker you mean the menu? If so then yes, the menu flickers. That's required to generate a large text display on the 2600. I posted some pictures in this topic to show how that works.
IAmTheZOOM
Hello, No the menu flickers back to the start screen and over and over again. - Danny
+SpiceWare
Are you by chance using a Genesis controller? If so hold down firebutton B when you turn on your Atari.
IAmTheZOOM
I so wish I was, but I am not. Just the 7800 controller, a refurb. Will be getting my backup Atari 2600 tomorrow, will check on there.
IAmTheZOOM
Hello, My backup Atari 2600 works with the cart, so I guess my 7800 is somewhat defective towards it. Plays all the real carts on there fine. Hmmm. Maybe its an issue. Oh well. So now my backup Atari 2600 is now the main one, while the 7800 is now the backup. Thanks for all your advice. - Danny
Thomas Jentzsch
IIRC there was an incompatibility with certain 7800. But I think this one has been fixed by now. Is your Harmony new, or did you buy it 2nd hand?

cd-w
Try the Atari 2600 joystick in the 7800 to see if it an issue with the controller or the console. Chris
