DoctorVell #1 Posted January 29, 2017 Does anyone know where I can find a US Atari STacy "laptop" computer? I would love to have one that has 4mb of RAM and at least a 20mb (prefer 40mb or higher)? Thanks

+DarkLord #3 Posted January 30, 2017 Very rare machines. Especially ones in good shape. Watch Ebay and both Atari Age and Atari Forum. You will find them for sale there occasionally. Keep in mind, a STacy in good shape will command a price tag in the $350.00 - 450.00 range unless you just get lucky. I've got one that I've modified quite a bit. I think they are one of the more interesting Atari models.
AtariGeezer #4 Posted January 30, 2017 Two STacy 2's recently sold on ebay in Germany for $521 and $700... I still need to fix mine, but may end up buying a new motherboard and US keyboard from Brad this year.
+DarkLord #5 Posted January 31, 2017 <low whistle> Wow, even higher than the last ones I saw. The ST Book is far worse...
Android8675 #6 Posted January 31, 2017 The ST Book is far worse... Someone had one at the Atari Party last year (not working), I think he got it for a song too. Lucky bastard. I'd love to get a STacy, but I can't even land a decent Amiga 500 for less than $400, no way I'm going for a STacy anytime soon.
+DarkLord #7 Posted February 2, 2017 Just from memory, I think working ST Books in good shape have been going for like $1000-1200.00 or even higher.
Bama #8 Posted February 15, 2017 I bought my STacy 4/40 used in 1991 for $400, the price was steeply discounted because the HDD had died. I actually lugged it back and forth to work. Back then, I was the only person at work with my own computer. :-)
+DarkLord #9 Posted February 16, 2017 Occasionally, during the summer months (at night) when typically my work place pace slows down a bit, I'll take my STacy. I'm a respiratory therapist at a small rural hospital and we have our own department away from patient areas and I can lock the door. I've had a few people see it from time to time and the first inevitable question is: "What the heck is that???" To which I reply, "That my unenlightened friend, is historical magnificence!
Bama #10 Posted February 16, 2017 Nice! I need to find a reason to bring my STacy to work!
+Tillek #11 Posted February 16, 2017 Oh! I could take mine in! I'll tell them it's for testing our web-app in "alternate non-java environments".
