Nintendo Switch eShop - using other regions

Recommended Posts

With the Switch being region-free you can using Nintendo accounts from different regions on the same console and access the eShop for those regions.

I've created another Nintendo account and selected Japan as my country. I was able to view the Japanese news and view the Japanese eShop.

I downloaded the Dragon Quest Heroes demo (all text is Japanese though) but I wasn't able to make a purchase. I tried two different credit cards but it must check which country issued the card.

Has anyone tried to purchase from another region yet?

Awesome. I can't wait for Puyo-Puyo Tetris to hit the US. Quick Question: Does changing the console region change the language option on retail games? (Like Zelda)

I didnt need to change the region on the console, mine is set to Australia/New Zealand.

I just created another user and when I set up the Nintendo account via the website I selected Japan.

When I go to the eShop I select that user and I get the Japanese eShop.

I tried Zelda with the Japanese user and it was still in english (text and voice).

I finally purchased a game from the Japanese eShop. I got a Japanese pre-paid eShop card from Play-Asia.com.

I got Battle Sport Mekuru. All of the text in the game is in English except for the title of the game.

Has anyone else purchased a digital game from another region yet?

I concur, would love to play some Japanese games but English text is a must for me.
