Vectrexer #4 Posted April 8, 2017 I bought one of these. I was hoping to seat it inside a spare vectrex shell i had in my parts bin, but it seems to big anyone have another solution? I dont really want a loose pcb ilaying around n the long term. 3 Solutions, 1 suggestion. Solution 1 : Remove the IC, Then Remove the DIP socket. Directly solder the IC directly to the board. Solution 2 : Remove the IC, Then Remove the DIP socket. Install a low-profile DIP socket in place of the larger DIP socket . Reinsert the IC into the low-profile DIP socket. Solution 3 : On the top half of the Vectrex cart shell, Cut an opening large enough to all the IC to protrude through the shell. Suggestion: Design a 3D model of the Vectrex cart case with a top half shell that has enough clearance to fit the higher profile of the DIP socket used on the board.
