Damantion! I can never seem to win any auctions

Recommended Posts

I've been trying this whole ebay thing, bidding on 2600 stuff and all. It seems that every time I bid on something, someone else with really deep pockets outbids me. :x Sometimes I feel like giving up on that medium, I've had my heart broken so many times. Oh well, what's a working-class Atari collector to do. (rant ends here)

P.S. How much do you guys spend on ebay anyway?

Find new auctions with BIN's. That's the only way to get stuff anymore, it seems.

YUP THATS HOW I DO IT GO TO NEWLY LISTED AND THEN HIT THE BIN TAB THEN SEARCH AND LOOK FOR THE BEST DEALS BEFORE EVERYBODY ELSE GETS TO THEM :D

I spend WAY too much on Ebay. As everyone will confirm by my recent Tooth Protectors purchase. But, I can't seem to find any good atari stuff in the wild. I've found some handhelds and stuff but nothing better than Combat in the wild. BIN is without a doubt the best way to get stuff, although I get beat all the time on that too.

P.S. CPUWIZ, what do YOU call cheap? I think we need to talk.

Around 20 to 50 bucks monthly or when my needs show up!

I just got outbid on three items today as I slaved away installing wiring in our new building here;but I only bid what I can afford.

When I started ebaying(if that's even a word) I lost 4 auctions on Time Pilot for 2600,but get this, and all by 'one cent'.Now that was discouraging...

Ok let's se..

I live on $9.50/hr times 40 hours a week..not including overtime.

Ok. I pay like $484 a month in rent...plus cable, phone, car insurance and my pager.

Leaves me little for buying games.

Yet, I always manage to find a way to pay for everything.

Wonder if I should run Enron if they ever bring it back... :ponder: or perhaps I could save Adelphia from bankruptcy... :ponder:

:D

Here is what I do. If I don't have a space on my watch list, I will place a low-ball bid just to keep it on my watch list. Then during the course of the week, I will decide the maximum amount of money I will pay for the auction. Then about 10-20 seconds before the auction, if it hasn't reached my maximum bid amount, I will place my bid. This technique seems to work best for me.

...and place bids on things you want, even if it seems to be ridiculously low. I won "Xenophobe" for the 7800 last month because no one bothered to up my bid of $4.99.

Just be patient Zeus. Almost every Atari item you could possibly want appears on Ebay over and over again. :) I probably lost a dozen auctions before I got my first 2600 off of Ebay.

I just did my first ebay BIN. Fairly common stuff that I did not already have. In the process of communicating with the seller. :)
