ACML
Anyone know of a "legal" way to buy or view this documentary? I'm really interested in seeing it and the people who made it deserve compensation, but they have made it very difficult to view. accousticguitar
That looks cool. I can't see how to order it though.
GlowingGhoul
You can't. Since all they are doing is emailing links to the video to paid backers, they could easily accept paypal payment and send the link to additional buyers...but I guess they didn't think of that.
wizardschamber
I was confused by this--I wanted to view it and maybe include it as a last-minute thing in my book, since it looked like it made it past the funding stage and was ready to go, but I couldn't figure out what the status was. I hope they're doing well and that it comes out soon.
accousticguitar
Too bad only backers can leave comments.
gargoyle
Sorry, i didn't notice the funding period, it has already expired and they don't have a link for pay/download.
stirrell
If it is like the Commodore documentary they did, hopefully it will be released for general sale at some point. The Commodore documentary was very well done. It was a long wait but worth it. I don't know if their plans but hopefully this movie will become available for sale to everyone. Alatari the Steadfast
I was part of the Kickstarter and so have already seen and downloaded the movie. It's very good - 1 hour and 50 minutes long. I've only seen it once and want to watch it again. If anything, it could have been even a half-hour longer. It goes up to the crash but then stops. They interview Ray Kassar but not James Morgan and what he was trying to do to turn Atari around. The Tramiel era is not included. Right now they are finishing subtitles and making the DVDs. I suspect when it is all finished they will provide a downloadable version available to everyone. I missed the Commodore Kickstarter but was able to get it later that way. When available there should be a link on their website: www.8bitgeneration.com. For the Commodore one they set up a separate website: www.commodorewars.com so I suspect they will do the same for the Atari one. After Atari is done they will be doing Apple. I expect another Kickstarter...
Mclaneinc
Well at least the things DO come out, late but out..
ACML
So, is this a hoax? The Commodore Wars was for real, but I'm staring to doubt that this one exists. Either its a hoax or the producers are about as good at marketing than Atari was in 1982. If its no where near ready, than don't hype it. I'm quickly drifting into WGASA territory. +Ripdubski
It came out. I backed it and received my copy a couple of months ago. Good show.
accousticguitar
I would like to buy a copy. Still waiting.
Alatari the Steadfast
The Apple documentary Kickstarter is now live: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/8bitgeneration/firing-steve-jobs Some of the pledge rewards include the Atari and Commodore documentaries as DVDs. I noticed on their website that they now have a deluxe "Jack Tramiel edition" of the Commodore Wars available too. I assume the Atari documentary will release as a digital download by itself one of these days. They produce a good product but their communication with their customers (and potential customers) could be improved...
ACML
Not following the logic here. They made it, but they want to limit viewing to a few??? I'll pay $15 for a digital copy. Take my money please. I'm sure they would recoup their investment and then some just by the interest on Atari Age. Wasn't the point of creating the documentary so the public could see it? I'm glad they made it and look forward to the opportunity to buy it. Edited June 21, 2017 by ACML
accousticguitar
Yeah $56 is too steep for me.
Midnight Synergy
Weird thing... I just saw this movie (at least I think it was this movie) on an Air Canada flight in their documentary section. But it had a different title, "Game Change" or something like that (no, not the Sarah Palin movie - that would be a weird crossover). I cannot find any mention of an alternate title anywhere. Anyways, the documentary was well done. The final part (with Nintendo/Sega) felt like an odd tack-on.... most of the movie was about Atari, and then 30 minutes on the battle of 1990s. But still, good stuff in this.
thank you
https://www.amazon.com/Easy-Learn-Hard-Master-Atari/dp/B073Q7P21Q looks like it's included with amazon prime video (also on itunes, vimeo on demand, and something called jman.tv)
manterola
Yep, I watched it on Amazon prime video last week. It was interesting, but the did not talk or explain how atari 8 Bits computers fit in the puzzle (the mess) of Warner.
