kyle #1 Posted March 30, 2017 Just got my 112 In 1 Genesis cartridge today in the mail I do not have a real genesis just the cheap dollar store version the 2014 model I believe it is and then I have a Retron 5. Neither one will play it. I can only go on the game select screens but it won't let me play any of the games when I hit start to select a game the screen just like flickers and the music restarts . Is something wrong with the cartridge or do I need a real genesis because emulation can't read it? If you're not familiar with the cart this is it. https://m.aliexpress.com/item/32759296346.html
keepdreamin #2 Posted March 30, 2017 If you're trying to run Roms, why are you going about it in the most absurd way possible?
kyle #3 Posted March 30, 2017 Thanks for the help
keepdreamin #4 Posted March 30, 2017 Buy a Pi zero, throw every Genesis game on there and stop messing around with garbage
kyle #5 Posted March 30, 2017 I just want to know if I have a defective cartridge I need to send back or if I just need to pick up a real Genesis to play it .
128Kgames #6 Posted March 30, 2017 AFAIK the retron can only play real carts, no boots, multis or homebrew, as it has to copy the actual ROM to itself to play (at least thats how I remember it works, my retron has been boxed up for a while now). By "cheap dollar store" do you mean the AT games one?
kyle #7 Posted March 30, 2017 Yes the AT Games one. It won't play it either
keepdreamin #8 Posted March 30, 2017 (edited) Work smarter, not harder. You have a chain of garbage in that setup. Send the cart back, use the 25 bucks for a Pi zero setup. Right now you're basically asking why you can't change a car tire with the Fisher Price wrench you bought. I'm trying to tell you to get a tire iron Edited March 30, 2017 by keepdreamin
Gabriel #9 Posted March 30, 2017 If the cart works, which may not be the case, then you probably need a real Genesis for it to function.
0078265317 #10 Posted March 31, 2017 If the cart works, which may not be the case, then you probably need a real Genesis for it to function. Send it to somebody else with a real genesis and test it. Then you know. Or get a real genesis off ebay for cheap. You don't have to have the real ac adapter either. I use a generic powerline 1300mhaf from Walmart and it works fine. 0078265317 #11 Posted March 31, 2017 Only 5.95 bucks and 7.60 shipping not bad and he says tested. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Sega-Genesis-Model-2-Console-Only-Replacement-console-only-tested-working-SEE-/252820481222?hash=item3add4664c6:g:l2wAAOSwYXVYzjXI
godslabrat #12 Posted March 31, 2017 You mean a bootleg cart from an unknown source won't run on a Rite-Aid system that's known to struggle with actual games? No kidding, really?

You may be able to bring it to a local game store and see if they'll let you test it. I will gladly test it for you, but it would cost shipping both ways. NinjaWarrior #14 Posted March 31, 2017 Why do people still buy the AtGame Genesis? Do they not know it's crap
keepdreamin #15 Posted March 31, 2017 Why do people still buy the AtGame Genesis? Do they not know it's crap Not too mention a bootleg multi cart to go with it. That's like taking a dump on an existing pile of poop.
+save2600 #16 Posted March 31, 2017 Kyle, the only multicart or flashcart I'm aware of that works with the AtGames unit is a Firecore compatible one like this: http://www.atgames.us/Mega-Expert-Passport-FBC110.htm http://www.maxconsole.com/threads/review-firecore-passport.20694/ I had one for a while on mine and worked as advertised.
