Rastaconverter instructions/guide?

Recommended Posts

Of course I am aware of the Help.txt file and have used it as reference quite often, but it really doesn't tell you how to use a lot of features, for example using a mask image file, to achieve better detail in areas. Just one example.

Of course I am learning to use it better (Rastaconverter in general) every day through experimentation, and I've used the masking a couple of times with a source image over the destination, or a version I processed first through Timanthes & Infraview, but it seems like masking is really meant for just specific areas within the image that you want more detail on, and masking the entire picture with another entire picture doesn't seem the right way to use it to me.

My understanding, from what little is gleaned from the help.txt file is that masking is meant only for specific areas that you want the algorithm to concentrate on more, and if the entire image is masked with another entire image, then it's not concentrating more on one area over another.

There is no other manual than the help file and the FAQ section in Github.

However many answers were spread through different topics on AtariAge. The detail mask is explained here.
