Atarikid96 #1 Posted April 12, 2017 (edited) I'm just wondering what game/games people are the most, uh, talented at on the VCS. For me, I'd say Yar's Revenge or Missile Command. I've spent many a nights playing, practicing, and cursing at my tv until 3-4 am to get where I am currently score wise with those games (seriously, there need to be an ATARI ADDICTS ANONYMOUS). I can think of nothing more satisfying than having a beer or two and wearing out a VCS controller for a few hours. What about you?? Atarian7 #2 Posted April 12, 2017 The game I am best at is Kaboom! as I have played well over 100,000 minutes. (I know this because of the "What have you played tracker" ) My goal is 999,999. So far I have gotten 928,982. Coming in a close second would be Pitfall II. I have maxed the score several times on this. A few times I played for speed to see how fast I could complete it. I think I got around 10 minutes 30 seconds.
Skippy B. Coyote #3 Posted April 12, 2017 I hold quite a few HighScore.com world records (http://highscore.com/profile/?u=3171) but strangely I think the two VCS games that I'm best at are ones that I haven't gone for the record in yet: Millipede and Venture. Both are games that I adore and have sunk countless hours into playing, because they're just so much fun to me.
BigO #4 Posted April 12, 2017 Circus. I haven't played much in years, but used to be able to roll the score pretty much at will. That's pretty much the only thing in my gaming career that I'd call even close to an accomplishment.
Mister-VCS #5 Posted April 12, 2017 Ghostbusters, Joust, Crystal Castles, Missile Command, Jungle Hunt, Pole Position, Double Dragon, Kung-Fu Master, Stargate, Midnight Magic, Moon Patrol, Pressure Cooker, Smurf.
mojoatomic #6 Posted April 12, 2017 Ms. Pac-Man and LadyBug! Disclaimer... not saying I'm any good at them, just that I'm better at them than other games :-) I'm WAAAAAY better at fixing these things them playing them, but that doesn't stop me from having fun!
high voltage #7 Posted April 12, 2017 I got 11460 on X Man. Played Pac-Man for hours on end, never written down the score. Did good on Keystone Kapers, got the a patch (but they send me a Beamrider patch).
+GoldLeader #8 Posted April 12, 2017 I'm pretty sure I'm not that great at most games compared to you guys, but I'd probably say Yars' Revenge, Pitfall, Tron Deadly Discs, and Dark Cavern. I'm not including games that are nearly infinite (Laser Blast or Asteroids)...
toiletunes #10 Posted April 12, 2017 (edited) Enduro, Demon Attack, Laser Blast, and similar games of endurance. Edited April 12, 2017 by toiletunes
+-^CrossBow^- #11 Posted April 12, 2017 Mine would be Pitfall II and Star Master. Got to really good as Space Shuttle as well bitd, but I haven't played that one in so long, I don't even remember what all the console switches did. I used to remember I had them memorized and could play it without the overlays. I also remember that when I got the 7800 I was initially upset because I couldn't kick on the ohms burn with the bw/color switch since that didn't really exist in the correct manner on the 7800. Luckily I found out that the backup ohms on the first player difficulty could be used instead.
NE146 #12 Posted April 12, 2017 I'm pretty good at 2600 Ms. Pacman with a high score (4 ghosts) in the 200k range.. which aint easy! Now watch someone make 300k.
BassGuitari #13 Posted April 12, 2017 After knocking off a little rust, I'm pretty awesome at Defender. I'm fairly confident I could set the world record if I took the time and subjected myself to what devolves into several solid hours' worth of brain-numbing tedium.
AtariLeaf #15 Posted April 12, 2017 Circus Atari. It's one of those games where I can get into that "zone" where I don't actually focus on my players I just move with the flow and I can play pretty much forever. I usually end up quitting the game long before I lose all my lives.
high voltage #16 Posted April 13, 2017 Enduro, yes I got the on-screen trophy, which was neat.
bomberpunk #17 Posted April 13, 2017 (edited) If there was ever an elimination tournament for Warlords held in New Orleans (or someone paid for my flight and hotel), god help you all. Edited April 13, 2017 by bomberpunk
Atarikid96 #18 Posted April 13, 2017 Adventure! I'm good at Adventure too lol it took me about 15 minutes to beat it the first time with no help, and I can easily beat every castle with no problem.

AlwaysOnPlanetPatrol #20 Posted April 13, 2017 (edited) I have a few that I think I play well (either I can finish, or where I can play non-stop for more than one hour). Double Dragon, Pole Position, Planet Patrol, Pitfall II, and crappy Inca's Gold (Spider Kong). Edited April 13, 2017 by AlwaysOnPlanetPatrol
gliptitude #21 Posted April 15, 2017 I'm not a competitive player and don't expect to ever win a contest among above average competitors, but the games I am most focused on score on are Yars' Revenge and Dragonfire, to say I am good at them. Those two and HERO maybe, except that HERO kind of has a finite level of achievement that most players will eventually get to I think. Night Driver game 1 I can often get a perfect run - zero crashes and foot on gas start to finish uninterrupted, never releasing button - but I'm not sure that's really difficult to do.
Dr Manhattan #22 Posted April 15, 2017 Seaquest, Megamania, Missile Command and Kaboom. Those are my games.
davyK #23 Posted April 15, 2017 There were a few games I clocked when I was a teenager: Defender, Asteroids, Yars Revenge and Megamania spring to mind. Sadly, now that I am older I find some of these tougher now. Yars Revenge in particular. I also remember clocking Cosmic Creeps by Telesys. Of course I am in the PAL region so I was playing some of these at a reduced speed! PAL60 for me now with a Harmony cart.
agb #24 Posted April 15, 2017 Solar Fox, Breakout, super Breakout and Dodge'em.
StanJr #25 Posted April 15, 2017 I beat Haunted House Game 9 with only two matches and all 9 lives remaining. I've yet to repeat that feat, but that seems pretty good to me. I'm also a BEAST at Fire Fighter. I can win the game in mere seconds...
