I'm a proud owner for several years now Any other fans of this great console?

 

 

What are some of your favorite games,memories,etc?

 

 

I play it regularly. Spin Ball and Mine Storm are my go to games lately when it comes to Vectrex.

I occasionally play Rockaroids. Maybe Rip-Off now and then.
My favorite memory is hacking a couple of NES controllers together to make a nice little four button Vectrex controller.

Not sure I had strong favorite game or anything. Scramble, Hyperchase, MineStorm, ArmourAttack, were probably played more than the other games though. But we had great times and played great imaginary games.

 

Vectrex was pretty cool back in the day. I'd make forts out of bedsheets and chairs, the bookcase and bed. And we'd open the windows in winter because the system made enough heat to warm the whole fort. We played "Mission Control", and each game was like a different segment of the imaginary space mission.

 

Oftentimes I'd have the Apple II set up to play Tranquility Base (Lunar Lander), and the Atari 800 doing Star Raiders. SR is neat because you can have a pilot and navigator. Joystick and Keyboard co-op game. And connecting our camping tent to the fort was even more cool. It was like our own real-life moonbase! Sometimes it took us kids all afternoon to get it set-up. Throw in a kid's planetarium star projector and we could peek out the tent into the room which was filled with stars. Add a couple of astrology/astronomy programs and we had an instant navigation computer complete with star charts. Somehow our moonbase was suddenly a space colony or a starship!

 

Leaving the room was like going on EVA or returning to Earth. Best of times!
