sparkdrummer
I just picked this gizmo up today at a a Goodwill for $4. Doing a bit of research I discovered when you turn it on with a speaker plugged into the jack on the back it says READY in it's wonderful robotic voice. Anyway, anybody out there have a manual in pdf form or how to properly hook it up via serial and/or parallel connection. I know there are a couple of dipswitchs inside for settings. I'd like to see how it compares to my trusty TI-99/4A speech.
carlsson
Not a manual, but a recent Hackaday article with YouTube video that might put you on track: http://hackaday.com/2017/02/22/microvox-puts-the-80s-back-into-your-computers-voice/ Chapters 9 & 10 of this book seem to deal with the Microvox: https://books.google.se/books?id=zQWNinpbFx0C&printsec=frontcover&hl=sv&source=gbs_ge_summary_r&cad=0#v=onepage&q&f=false Edited April 18, 2017 by carlsson
sparkdrummer
Thanks Carlsson I briefly watched that video. I better sit down and watch it a bit closer. The gentleman giving the video shows he has a manual so I'm hoping he might do a scan to pdf and make it available. There is another video out there of a microvox and another speech unit doing a Monty Python argument bit, it's pretty funny.
