Super Nintendo Classic Edition - SNES Mini thread

Recommended Posts

And if you can't stand it, there's a deal on amazon right now, dude has just 40, but it's the FAMICOM (not super famicom) mini -- US amazon, US shipper.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/B01M1VMFUA/ref=dp_olp_collectible?ie=UTF8&condition=collectible&m=A3JEMH57T5GOEH

Saw this on reddit, guy posted it after buying one and claims it's a legit new item and not aftermarket.

If you're that hard up, its $90 shipped. Just hakchi the damn thing and put the SNES library on there you want.

The rumors about Gamestop are correct, I just went to one during my lunch break and scored one.

So I decided to check out another Gamestop 10 minutes away and got a second one.

Then I get back to work, and my EU version one from Amazon France was waiting at my desk. Overall, a pretty good day! I'm done for the season. Didn't get an NES mini until February.

Don't support the scalpers this time!

Gamestop near me has 4 in stock. Gonna head over to buy one and use it for modding. Why not?

<edit> mission accomplished! :D

This is a concept he can't understand

No it is a concept I fully grasp.

Person A buys more than they need just to criticize person B for buying more than they need.

I like how you justify one person cornering the market and limiting supply as compared to another.

I just like to point out the hypocrisy in such justified actions is all.

Because there are cheaper, easier, better ways to play old games?

Like what? :)

1) obviously not

2) buying someone a gift is a nice gesture

3) its not rationalizing, its a gift, that is completely different than hording to make a buck of some sucker

4) I dont think that word means what you think it means

Osgeld I'm going to be blunt here. I think half the high horse people in this thread are liars. People will say anything so they can look good.

Let me be blunt; gift my ass!

I think your perceived outlook of other people says more about yourself than anything else. You see in others what you think yourself, and assume they're thinking the same way.

Like what? :)

I made a nice SNES Classic playlist in RetroArch, and my wireless 8BitDo will never have "cord too short" problems.

Yeah my PC is worth more than $80, but I didn't have to wait out in the pre-dawn hours outside a box store to get it. Time is money.

To say nothing of other toys which shall not be named but remind me of huckleberry pie.

If Iceman were to gift me a SNES Classic Mini I would happily bury the hatchet.

Yeah I was just kind of half joking.. as obviously most here are fully aware of all (and probably more of) the options than the average joe out there. I'm not even going to list all of the ways I personally have to play SNES because we are video game freaks here and it goes without saying.

But yeah, me just adding on another SNES classic to hack, in addition to having one stock NIB is just more indicative of my sickness than any game playing needs. Why not just keep one and hack that? You'd have to ask my therapist :P

I ordered a Fami mini for the collection; thanks for the tip. A 50% markup over retail (tax free btw) is not unreasonable for imports.

I might need to procure an extra long HDMI cable for this one, LOL! :P

Iceman, with all due respect, you are the one who cannot grasp that certain individuals who might want more of these for reasons other than financial gain. Yes, I get that you flew to Gamestop this morning to bank on scalper profit, thus denying frugal minded shoppers the opportunity to buy one at retail. It isn't something I consider a moral high ground even if completely legal to do so. I would pass a second unit up rather than hock it for profit, or perhaps buy one for a friend/family as a gift.

Please don't be so blunt as to label someone else a hypocrite for buying more than one, especially as gifts. Not everyone sees dollar signs like you do...

I don't think it's really that high of a markup, since the Japanese version comes with 2 controllers vs. the 1 with the US version.

Not sure the extra controller is that much of a benefit on the Famicom Mini :)

Learn to get a joke. I sat in my happy chair and let other people scrounge for them. I did not call any Gamestop or put forth 1 second of effort to get any more.

I bought 4 with intentions of keeping two and most likely resell the other two. However, I also have room to brick if so happens, because I fully intend to mod mine. Furthermore if I can't mod the same one to play both nes and snes at the same time I am failry sure I can mod one to play nes alone. As such that will knock me down to only having 1 to sell as I was not able to get an nes mini.

Sure I bet some people did by an extra for a friend but it seems like every damn person in this thread purchased more than one and almost everyone said they bought the extra for a friend or gift and I'm not buying it.

Fact is I have not even tried to sell any of mine yet and unless they sell for $200+ I will not sell any of them. I will be more than happy to be "stuck" with what I spent my money on! Thank you! That $170 I spent on extra systems I may not need is really going to ruin my day if I can't recoup those funds.

Yeah the player 2 cable is basically for show unless you enjoy snuggling with friends to conserve body heat. It would be perfect for Eskimoes! I could easily cut the player 1 cable and add in a 9 ft extension cord. I do know my way around with a soldering iron and multimeter. With proper heatshrink, the extra long cord would be almost seemless...

...Or just get a 12 ft HDMI and keep it stock. ;)

Oh yeah... I forgot the controllers were also tiny on that one! Well I was trying to make him feel better. :)

LOL from someone who got 3 in the same day.

You're not a scalper if you're not reselling. Also, it appears he grabbed an extra to gift to someone. It happens more often than you think. It's how I got mine (a friend bought two, then sent one to me).
