What was you first 2600 game?

I got a pile of 2600 games in a lot at a garage sale in the late '90s...around 25 or so. I don't remember specifics about what was there...I mean, there was the obvious Pac-Man, Combat, etc., but the only one I remember firing up (once I got the system to work...there were issues) was Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back, so I'm gonna call that my first 2600 game. And it definitely left me with a good impression of what the system would have to offer. Now I just need to work on actually playing more of the ~250-300 games I've acquired since then. I've maybe played 50 of them, and that's being generous :P

Combat came with my first system, and Pac-Man with my second. Can't express how disappointed I was with Pac-Man... at the very least that could have had a similar maze and the correct colors. Ugh. The new Homebrew 8K Pac-Man is absolutely fantastic... it is the definitive version.

Two favorites that I played the heck out off were Adventure and later Enduro. :)

I finally got combat last year. When we got the Gemini system, it came pack with 2 games, Mouse Trap and Donkey Kong(both games came with a sticker on the back that reads "Bonus cartridge included with Gemini purchase. Non-refundable. I consider this a variation for these games with I haven't seen on any sites.) Those may have been my next 2 games. Then the flood gates were iopened.

I was born in 1983 so for my 5th birthday initially got 3 games and a 2600jr. Anyway yeah i used to play a friend of the families Atari prior to my birthday and really loved Missile Command. So of course they bought me Missile Command along with Midnight Magic and Realsports Boxing.

I have a feeling Midnight and Boxing were included as a pack with the 2600jr here in Australia (not sure?). Wasn't long after i received everyone's hand me down's so that was pretty cool. Got to say though, if i haven't played the 2600 for awhile, the first game usually fired up is Missile command :)

I got my first Atari 2600 around Christmastime in 1999. It didn't come with any games but a friend from my boy scout troop had some games and paddles that he brought over when we had a troop meeting at our house, which we played downstairs afterward. The games were Combat, Pac-Man, Donkey Kong, Space Invaders (red label), Breakout, Super Breakout, M*A*S*H*, Chopper Command, and Warlords. I fired up Combat first since I wanted to replicate the "new 2600 experience" as closely as I could, as Combat was most people's introduction to the system. It didn't disappoint! Pac-Man was something of a hit as well. Surprisingly, I don't recall Warlords getting that much traction with the other kids, even though there were four or five of us.

He let me borrow the stuff but we grew apart as we got into high school and I got out of scouting, and it was forgotten about. I still have most of them, except the Space Invaders and Donkey Kong carts (the end label was ripped off anyway), which I reacquired. I have no way to tell which of my umpteen Combat carts is my "original" one, though, unfortunately...but it's one of them! :)

Beat em and Eat em. I was 6.

I've often wondered... how many kids actually had parents that had one or more of these games.

And much like I'm sure many of us have a memory of stumbling upon our first dirty magazine, they have the gloriously retro-nerdy story of how their first brush with porn was on the VCS.

well if you dont count the combat pack in im pretty sure my first was air sea battle

got a few of the paddle games but the common problem is one paddle works great and the other one was a jittery mess so me and my brother always fought over the "good" paddle

me and my brother loved the game with the blue wheelchair avoiding the crayons
