Krytol #1 Posted May 14, 2003 I just started playing this game and I like it. It reminds me of an early PC game... can't remember the name. Anyone have any strategy tips? Any reason to shoot for helicopters first besides higher points?
Robert M #2 Posted May 14, 2003 I think a key strategy for Commando Raid is to strategically allocate damage across the 4 buildings so as to avoid letting the enemy build tunnels as long as possible. The buildings repair over time, but tunnels remain forever once they are dug. So I like to focus on protecting one side 100% and the other side as much as possible. When the less protected side is almost to the point of tunnels being built, then I switch and give 100% coverage to the damaged side. With luck/skill the damaged buildings will repair, and you can repeat this process indefinitely. Cheers!
Brad2600 #4 Posted May 14, 2003 I had Commando Raid when I was a kid and I found it really interesting.
+Atarius Maximus #5 Posted May 14, 2003 It reminds me of an early PC game... can't remember the name. I haven't played Commando Raid much, but I do remember playing an old shareware game on my PC called "Night Raid" many years ago that was similar. Could this be the game you remember? http://www.the-underdogs.org/game.php?name=Night+Raid AM
tkarner #6 Posted May 14, 2003 The original, as far as I can tell, is much older than Night Raid. I think it was simply called Paratrooper. It used CGA graphics and the keyboard for input. This was a pre-mouse, pre-joystick game on the PC XT. We're talking early eighties, the first game on an IBM that I recall ever seeing.
tkarner #7 Posted May 14, 2003 By the way, Commando Raid is tough, it doesn't let up. It's the only game that causes my hands to cramp up. Most of the time I have to end a game not because I've lost but because my hands are too fatigued. (No double entendres please about fatigued hands...) AtariDude #10 Posted May 14, 2003 That is the newest game that I got for my Atari. I haven't played it too much but my basic strategy is shoot first and ask questions later
