+chue
Gotta take the TI lists with a grain of salt...somewhere along the line quite a few never-released, rumoured, and vapourware titles have been added. Good to know!
+chue
As to that last game... how about "Dark Star"?
PeBo
As to that last game... how about "Dark Star"? You got it Pontiac... So your turn!
Opry99er
Ahh, come on!!! I KNEW that one. Late to the party I guess.
+chue
OK, so here's a recent homebrew game that I don't completely understand. The first bit is understandable, but when I get to the part in this screenshot I just don't know what I'm supposed to be doing. But that's not the point... can you name the game? digdugnate
hmm, this is a tricky one. I will have to see if I can figure it out! (but of course, if someone beats me to it, that's cool too!) PeBo
hmmm... Those sprites sure are familiar...nearly like we know them! but I just don't have the Mojo to answer.

PeBo
I challenge anyone here at Atariage to answer this. shouldn't the Challenge be for anyone at Atariage NOT to answer it. I so, 'twould seem that we're meeting the challenge admirably!
+chue
Here's another screenshot (and hint)... The game was very popular at Fest West this year. Edited July 14, 2017 by chue

digdugnate
i turned the difficulty down a little on this one. Edited July 15, 2017 by digdugnate
PeBo
That game could have been so much better if: a) they would have abandoned their attempts to make it a vertical scroller - the character height scrolling is just plain awful and just distracts. b) would have simply had stars in the background - the planets, moons and other objects add nothing, and often obscure the enemies. But it IS the closest to a Galaxian that we've got (well, actually, no...we do have another - a truly fine one as a matter of fact - but I'll save that for next time I'm posting one), and other than those two complaints, it is a very mice looking game. Anyway, I've answered far too recently, so I'll wait until the next one.
+Torrax
Hmmm... Astrofighter based on the DECO Cassette System arcade version.
PeBo
Hmmm... Astrofighter based on the DECO Cassette System arcade version. hope digdugnate forgives me for confirming this one on his behalf, and inviting you to please submit the next entry... And thank you, I'll have to look for that Deco Cassette game for MAME...I didn;t know the TI game was based on anything else (I guess the "DECO" should have given it away!)

Opry99er
Wasn't that SSGC Racer? It has been years since I looked at it, but it feels right.
+Torrax
Nope. It's an assembly language game by a certain company that had quite a few of their games released by DataBiotics in cart form. And it was only on disk.
+Torrax
Hmmm... Owen, you might be right if you breakdown the SSGC intials into the proper wording. Also only the companys name and copyright date, 1983, are displayed on the main screen.
PeteE
Looks to be "Race" by "Software Specialties, Inc." (I found it in JS99er as a cartridge converted by Tursi) Also, SSGC was the Short and Sweet Gaming Contest, and SSGC Racer was indeed impressive for 30 lines of XB
+Torrax
Well I'll give this to PeteE. The game was Go Cart Racing/Racer by Software Specialties ©1983. Got this from a games compilation disk that TexComp use to offer. You can see how SSGC could refer to this. Guess your up now for the next game PeteE. Sinphaltimus
I sure wish I stuck it out all these years. I have such little exposure to so many of these games. It's been a great resource for a "ooooo I must check out that one" games list.
