How long do you wait to report a non-paying winner?

Recommended Posts

I had an auction that ended May 01. The winner used the checkout thing right away(dont know why...I emailed and told them where to send the money order) and gave me their address.

It's now the 13th, and I have not received payment. I have not gotten any email's aside from the initial 'this person checked out'.

I emailed right after the auction with payment instructions, and a couple days ago, I emailed again to let them know I did not get the money, and gave my address again.

Does Ebay have a time limit as far as reporting deadbeats? What do they do to compensate you?

out of the 5 or 6 things Ive sold on Fleabay, this is the first problem I've ever had.

Thanks

Email The person ask him if there is a problem. He usualy will email you back with something. If he doesnt send another email and tell Him that he has 7 days to get the payment too you and if he doesn't you will have no choice but to contact ebay . Be very Pleasnt and polite. This is how I handle the sutiations. Been on ebay for 4 years :)

Here's something to keep in mind. When you DO turn someone in as a NPB, there is a 10-day "working it out" delay before you can get credit for what they stiffed you for. With that in mind, here's my rule of thumb.

* Auction ends and invoices go out.

* After 10 days pass, I use the Payment Reminder button on eBay. I also send a note that says they have 48 hours to reply, letting me know what their status is. I usually get a response and payment quickly at that point. However....

* If 2 more days pass and the bidder has not replied (or is obviously just yanking me), I file a NPB report.

* And 10 days after that, I neg him and file for the credit.

So, all told, that's 22 days - just about 3 weeks - to pay before the hammer falls. More than enough time. Be sure to go the distance and file for the credit, as that places an eBay "black mark" on his file. I think 3 or 4 of those and you're off eBay permanently. Also, neg him before you file for the final credit, as I don't think you can leave feedback once credit is issued...

Usually if they don't pay within 2 weeks you won't see the money. At least that has been my experience. I have an AtariAge member who won one of my items over 2 weeks ago. He still hasn't paid. I have given him until this weekend and then I will get my credit back from eBay.
