Is there a fully working ALIANTS image?

Recommended Posts

I have a one disk hacked version by some BBS, it scrolls in text at the top instead of some story text on the first in-game screen (after the scrolling story text up the screen and pictures). But once you land successfully in the game, after your first briefing, instead of going to the simulator screen, it returns to the beginning. I also have a version in the original 3 disk side format, but it crashes on the second disk. These are the same two versions I have found on all the sites I know of.

I used to have the original game, I think it's rare, I only ever saw it advertised for direct order out of Antic/Analog magazines. But I lost all my software in a move in the 90's. And I haven't seen this title up for sale, ever (for 8-bit). There is an ST copy on eBay right now.

Thanks a million! I'm putting them back on real floppies with Prosystem. I tried the first 3 ATR's and got the same result with side 2 crashing, but then I wrote the alternate side 2 to that floppy, and I was able to play through to disk 3 and "complete" the game on the losing side in the last battle. The Aliants were victorious and humans had to flee for deep space, Earth forever lost. :( I'll have to try again tomorrow. A unique game, but too short really, and the beginning landing sequences are at best a 50/50 chance even after years of playing. Still very fun. It's an "experience" sort of an interactive story with a small amount of arcade action.

Glad to help, can you post what turned out to be the working set so I can mark it as such in my set...

Always happy to see a person finally get the full experience...Its also why I go on about posting collections, there's usually just a little something you have that others might not and vice versa..
