hedgehog #1 Posted May 14, 2003 What game do you consider the best online game for PS2? Iam purchasing the network adapter soon, and also an online game, whats your favorite online game.

Atari Master #4 Posted May 14, 2003 If its only 20 buy it. It's 9.00 a month but jeeze... They have to have money to pay for the server...

hedgehog #7 Posted May 14, 2003 No, I just think its a very stupid way to waste 9.00. That adds up to 108$ a year, I could spen that 9.00 a month on something like another game or 2. I dont like the idea of paying for something every month.
Atari Master #8 Posted May 14, 2003 Dude, the video game world is starting to go online. In a few years there are going to be as many online games as normal games. Eventually, your gonna want a game that you will have to pay for. So give in... Or get a new computer and buy Diablo II...
norkusa #9 Posted May 14, 2003 Everquest is lame. Sub-par, n64-like graphics and tedious quests. I played it for a month and quickly got bored with it. It may be the only online adventure game for PS2 right now, but it will be quicly forgotten when others like Final Fantasy come out. Hedgehog, check out Socom, ATV2, Frequency, Madden 2003. Sonds like those would be more up your aley. No subscription charges for them either. Stay away from My Street though! Terrible game!

If your talking about the computer version of EQ, then your wrong. An expansion was released with upgraded graphics and such.
norkusa #11 Posted May 14, 2003 Not PC, I was talking about for the PS2. That is the topic here, isn't it? I do hear that the PC version is a different story though. I guess the PS2 version of Everquest was striped down in order to appeal to a wider audience. I've never played the PC version though so I can't comment on that (got a Mac). I just thought the PS2 version was real dull. I have nothing against online adventure games, but this one really didn't really do anything for me. I plan on giving the online Final Fantasy game when it comes out though.
Agent X #12 Posted May 17, 2003 Someone asked a similar question on alt.games.video.sony-playstation2 recently. I said that I felt it was a close call between Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 4 and Amplitude. THPS4 has more variety in the available modes of play. Amplitude doesn't have as much variety, but most games have more direct interaction between players. Both games also have USB keyboard support, buddy tracking, and the ability to download and upload new content. They're also really fun!
davidbrit2 #13 Posted May 17, 2003 Frequency and Amplitude, hands down. Frequency doesn't have many online players ever since Amplitude's release, but the online demo version still comes with the network adapter so you can become totally addicted. The game is like a cross between Tempest and Beatmania/Dance Dance Revolution. Honest to god. You fly through a tube, and rotate around the inner edge playing notes on the tracks. Amplitude is much the same, though it's played on more of a flat surface than in a tube. For multiplayer games, both are awesome. Up to four players scramble around the "song" trying to clear tracks more effectively than the other players and score more points. Oh, and there's no fee to play either of them online. AtariDude #14 Posted May 18, 2003 How does Socom: Navy seals compare to say Counter Strike for the PC? I tend to play a lot of Counter Strike online but only on a few servers where I know the players and where cheaters are kicked. Is Navy Seals a more tactical game and less arcade like? I prefer a game that is more arcade like.
