thoughts on toejam and earl: panic on funkotron

Recommended Posts

I played this for the first time on my Mega Everdrive X3 flash cart for my Model 1 Sega Genesis. I like that it retains the humor from the first game. Capturing the humans is easy. Also I enjoy the simon says type mini game. I wish they had made a sequel to this game because I found it to be very fun.

I have not completed it yet.

While polished, I feel like it lacked the charm of the first game, which was really helped by its overhead perspective. I never liked the post-Genesis Toejam and Earl games either.

Yeah the 3d Toejam and Earl mission to Earth I think for the Xbox one was less to be desired for sure and although the first one had its repetitive notions I also thought it was better than the second. I would put Panic on funkotron as a good platformer but nothing too shiny for a Genesis title.

i know it has its apologists & prolly isn't a bad game in itself, but every time ive tried it i can't get over it not being a 90s hip hop roguelike, the first one was really something special

Sorry but I just never liked panic on funkoctron. I remember renting it when it was new and thinking "this isn't the toejam and earl game sequel I wanted". When I began collecting the original was an early must have, but I have never even considered seeking out the sequel.
