lucifershalo #1 Posted May 12, 2017 After years of waiting, I have a 5200 Trackball, wonderful to play Missile Command or Centipede, I tried Tempest and it didnt work at all, I thought it was compatible
Andromeda Stardust #2 Posted May 12, 2017 Doesn't the 5200 trackball just emulate an analog joystick, unless I'm mistaken?
+Allan #3 Posted May 12, 2017 I've played Tempest with my Trackball many times. It works great. Allan
lucifershalo #4 Posted May 12, 2017 I've played Tempest with my Trackball many times. It works great. Allan did you have put some settings?
+Allan #5 Posted May 12, 2017 did you have put some settings? No. I don't remember any settings. There is code for 5200 to detect what controller is being used. Allan

+Allan #7 Posted May 12, 2017 try your trackball with Missile Command just to make sure it's working ok. It's the best test program for the Trackball. Allan
Albert #8 Posted May 12, 2017 It should work fine with the Trak-Ball. One important thing is to make sure the Trak-Ball controller is plugged in before you power up the 5200. ..Al
Dutchman2000 #9 Posted May 12, 2017 Tempest has full trak-ball support. Make sure your trak-ball is functional with other games.
+sramirez2008 #10 Posted May 12, 2017 Yup, my copy of 5200 Tempest works fine with all three of my trackball controllers. My wife and I play Tempest pretty regularly. Oddly enough, Tempest and Centipede are her favorite arcade games.

lucifershalo #12 Posted May 15, 2017 I tried again I plugged the TB, played Centipede without any problem then put Tempest the Tb is responding but it is not "instinctive" for ex on the menu, if I dont touch the ball, it will keep moving trough all the levels while playing a game, I have to roll a lot the ball before being able to go on the other side I dont know if what I write is clear, might be frenglish :-) and if it is normal or not as it is I think it is better to play with the joystick than the Trackball
+-^CrossBow^- #13 Posted May 15, 2017 Are you playing tempest from an actual Tempest 5200 cart like from here:https://atariage.com/store/index.php?l=product_detail&p=1036 Or are you playing it through a flash cartridge?
lucifershalo #14 Posted May 16, 2017 Actual, official AA store release cart
Dutchman2000 #15 Posted May 16, 2017 Where did you purchase it? The first copies sold at a show had issues with the trak-ball that we fixed and released an updated version. If you have an early edition cart I'm sure Al would exchange it for you.
