Woah.... Coleco DID NOT make this game..... They simply bought a bunch of copies for their expo

That's it.

I've also seen somewhere.... Sydney Hunter has been liscenced to Coleco Holding

Again, not true

We didn't liscenced the character at all

Was that this:

https://www.colecoex...er-on-cartridge

I don't see CollectorVision mentioned anywhere.

And I'm really pissed off that I paid for a copy from them! At least I also reserved a copy of the special edition from Collectorvision but initially was deceived into thinking that the "Coleco Expo" version was an officially licensed edition only available through them! I hate admitting this but "Coleco" is putting a very sour taste in my mouth with all this bullshit! The rebel and fighter in me wants to say screw em and continue doing what it is your all doing and force their hand. But the realist in me knows that may not be the best course. But I'm 100% behind the homebrew community and hope games continue being made.

http://reviewfix.com/2017/04/review-fix-exclusive-inside-sydney-hunter-sacred-tribe/

At least one of the commenters at the bottom of the page seems to have figured it out. Is this why RWB/CH is freaking on the puritanical, because they are selling this game at coleco expo but didn't bother to find out about the mature games first? It is hard to believe after all these years.

What do we know about this "reviewfix" guy? I see he's one of the "guest speakers" giving a presentation on retrogaming at the Coleco Expo, but looking at his YouTube he only has 216 subs and just over 1,000 likes on Facebook with very little engagement on either social. He doesn't have a single comment on the last 25 of his blog articles either. I see an "upcoming video games book" being mentioned by him but I Google searched it and the only thing I can really find are articles written about it by people who also used to work for reviewfix.com or self-promotion on his own blog.

I see the reviewfix.com site has 6 people on "staff" but there doesn't appear to be any traffic on the site or on their socials. It's sort of weird.

I've never heard of him. For those of you who have gone to other expos and are more "in the know" of general retrogaming blogs, is he is actually a "retrogaming expert" or no? I mean I watch quite a few different YouTube gaming channels and I've never heard this guy mentioned.

Well then, you better check out the ColecoExpo website because their description on there of Sydney Hunter is VERY misleading especially for those that have not been involved in the retrogaming scene for as long as most people here on AtariAge have been. Heck, they don't even mention you and CollectorVision, just that they teamed up with Exidy... I know, you acquired that rights to the name Exidy.

I hope the Sydney Hunter game for the ColecoVision is a huge success, but be very careful with who you get into bed with... especially these fu*ks over at River West Brands, Coleco Holdings LLC, etc.

And Coleco continues their lies. They continue to mislead and deceive the public; their Expo page makes it sound like Sydney Hunter is THEIR GAME (just like Mario or Zelda is a first-party game for Nintendo). In addition to their misleading and false writing, it's also pathetic and looks like it was written by a kindergarten kid that just ate glue.

I see nothing on the web that qualifies Hickley as a "video game expert" or anything of the sort; he just looks like a douchebag who is probably friends with Cardillo and a part of his posse (same for the girl). We're supposed to be thrilled about these so-called guests? Probably nobodies who are just good friends with Cardillo; the expo is probably just a sham to help fund Cardillo & friends' projects.

DO NOT BE FOOLED
As always the are two side to each argument. Concerns of this nature are typically petty in nature, so we don't wish to harp on the issues here.
The genesis of our complaints are the promotion of pornographic related games by an individual attempting to assert some type of authority over the Coleco Brand. Additionally, the use of other third party rights to games bearing our name. As you can imagine this may cause some concern for folks unrelated to either side.
This individual had been warred on a number of occasions that these actions were improper.
Over the years Coleco has embraced the home brewer, and more specifically in a number of interviews invited home brewers to submit their content in order to receive an official license to use the name. In some cases no actual dollars were requested.
This is unheard of in the industry and something that we do in order. We wish to continue this approach.
Additionally, Coleco typically offers game development projects first to members of communities such as Atari age as was the case with Rainbow Brite
Although this individual wishes to attempt to align this battle between
HIM + the Homebrew Community vs Coleco
This is NOT an accurate depiction of what is going on here. The accurate equation is
Coleco Vs. A man who promotes pornographic materials on a site that he uses for profit.
PLEASE DO NOT BE FOOLED.
Please do not be manipulated in a 'side' that is arbitrarily created by one individual whose Internet reputation is repulsive. We have not mentioned any names, but feel free to do your own research.
PLEASE NOTE that this character began making demands this morning based on this post. Either do as i say, or i will post disparaging info about you.
The individual was contacted and told that we would look into the concern. The concerns culminated into the following email that was send to this individual.
SIMPLY PUT we offered for the individual to continue their site so long as they agreed to post nothing PORNOGRAPHIC in nature.
The individual requested an 'unconditional' reprieve - nothing short.
Not only was this not handled in a professional manner, but the emails were borderline black mail in nature.
Coleco, a FAMILY focused company will not tolerate ANY products that share pornographic content.
Below is an email from the head of Coleco Mr. Thomann to the individual.
ONLY ONE DEMAND was made to this individual. ONE! And that was to stop posting lewd material.
Please note that COLECO's Stance has NOT and WILL NOT change when it comes to protecting families from suspect content.

R****,
I am simply trying to make sure there is no nudity on the site. I am fine with you publishing whatever you would like to publish as long as it is truthful. If you pledge to me that there will be no adult content associated with the Coleco and Coleco Vision trademarks, then we are aligned and no approvals are necessary. This is not an unreasonable request nor a "strong arming" tactic. I have always supported this community and will continue to do so. When you publish your statement, please include the following: "The owner of the Coleco brand, Mark Thomann, offered his full support of any and all Coleco/Coleco Vision fan sites provided that the content does not Include nudity as we continue to position the Coleco brand as the Family Friendly gaming brand that a parent can trust".
Mark
We are confident in our choice to stand up for our beliefs and feel as though we made a positive stance against someone with a reputation for being a bully.
Simply put, the bully finally picked on someone who is willing to stand up for others.
YOU CAN DECIDE FOR YOURSELVES.

Chewing my way through this lengthy thread. What audacity, to step into our little community and demand taxes and royalties from us, as if he were some King upon a royal thrown to whom we must submit and bow down to. Where's the "dislike" button when you need one?

So now they are making it look like they are releasing the game. Very shady. I wonder why they would want to do that.

Perhaps to use as an example of active brand usage in the next round of sleazytrademark claims(?)

I'd love it he he used homebrewers to help him with that.

Kosmic, where is that DO NOT BE FOOLED crap posted? I'd love to see it in context.

It's incredibly patronizing and should turn off plenty of would-be customers.

I wonder what he considers porn? Boobs? How many people out there are offended by boobs? CV fans these days are probably 99% adults and I think we can decide ourselves what is porn and if we want to view or play it.

He doesn't seem to have any problems posting pictures of girls with very short dresses who are going to appear at that Coleco show.

This cardillo guy makes me willing to develop porn games for coleco...

Breasts are great, they literally sustain life. We should have a breastfeeding game, maybe a stealth type game, where a nursing mother has to beat the discomfort clock to find a quiet, private place to feed her baby without jackasses having a coronary over maybe catching a glimpse of a nipple. Mark it rated E for Everyone.

If he came to community to do the stupid rainbow bright game then what programmer is helping him? This community is full of old guys, maybe a couple of girls. Who the hell wants a rainbow bright game?

Who cares who is working on it? I have worked on plenty of games with weird IP's (I wrote a couple of Nickelodeon titles for the SNES for instance), it pays the bills. And half the time the theme is irrelevant, when the game is fun to play. That is all that matters in the end anyway. Boobies or not.

I don't even know what/who Rainbow Brite is, since I haven't googled it, but if I got paid to make a game with that IP, I would be in. Not that I have time for it, but if I did, I would.

ROFL!

On another note, I still remember a construction site one summer from when I was a kid. Some of those guys were... "hefty", and had man-boobs big enough to make some girls jealous... but no one ever thought twice about it. Double standard I guess. :)

They were probably hairy enough for you to not be able to see the nipple. The nipple... THE most offensive thing in the history of the universe! More offensive than Tom Green and Justin Bieber combined!
