DuggerVideoGames #2476 Posted October 17, 2017 The can be made to do so. They need a completely different approach than simply looking for a change in the scanline brightness. Makes sense. Although you can not use the NES zapper on today's HDTVs, you can still play Duck Hunt on the HDTV via the Wii and firing/aiming with the Wii remote. +Swami #2477 Posted October 17, 2017 Indeed - just who do they think they're appealing to and why do they think they'll make money from total crap like this???? Aaannnd, Dugger breaks 100! From the title and the absolute lack of any coherent anything in the trailer, it could attract a lot of porn seekers. Sounds like a sci-fi porn title. Does Dugger get some kind of door prize? You guys have no idea how hard it was for me to type that with a straight face.

I wonder if they are related. https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/the-bits-of-yesterday-video-game-documentary-film-videogames#/ No, not at all. Bits of Yesterday is clearly made by a bunch of gaming enthusiasts with actual knowledge and insight of the retrogaming community. That other garbage is just made by some cash-grabbing idiot who mistakenly thinks that by attaching a vaguely recognized brand name he knows nothing about it could attract more people and bring in bonus $$$$.
+frankodragon #2482 Posted October 17, 2017 Good grief: "A small town video game store clerk must go from zero to hero after accidentally unleashing the forces of evil from a cursed Colecovision game... Max Jenkins' gaming fantasies collide with reality when a legendary "lost" installment of the Nether Game series appears on the store counter of his workplace, Fallout Games. Unbeknownst to Max, the game bears a "Curse of The Ages", and in playing it, he unlocks The Nether, an ancient malevolent force of evil from the cartridge, upon his small hometown. Along with a mysterious masked man from the past wielding a video game light blaster pistol, and his two best friends, Liz and Reggie, Max must figure out how to beat the Nether at it's own game before it's Game Over for humanity." Now he's ripping off Captain S. http://www.pbc-productions.com/CaptainS/Show.html

enoofu #2488 Posted November 15, 2017 Is the beast dead, or just sleeping? No social media activity in a month, to say nothing of "engagement." http://coleco.com/connect/ ClosedForBusinessVision.png Robotech Robotech: The Macross Saga is the game being Used in Coleco Mini Arcade, which was poorly received at that time and being in a Mini Arcade form factor would also hurt the Multiplayer options of the game. Coleco is using Matchbox's Armoured Cyclone 1985 as their claimed "toy-line prototype" Harmony Gold Coleco's partner has the rights to The Super Dimension Fortress Macross, The Super Dimension Cavalry Southern Cross, and Genesis Climber Mospeada until their expiry on March 14, 2021 Sydney Hunter backlash when they claimed that it just was released, and the so called Coleco Expo version Coleco Expo being a disaster............... No one is interested in the MAX reload and the Nether Blaster since it would be a 10 minute commercial stunt ----------------------- So after that it probably was/is wise to focus on other companies such as Sega/Nintendo to pretend some type of connection

TPR #2493 Posted December 14, 2017 Does licensing the trademark for ColecoVision also grant them the license to use the unreleased Pac-Man on their website??? I'm so confused by this...

mr_me #2495 Posted December 14, 2017 (edited) The classicreload.com website is clear that their content is for educational and research purposes. That doesn't necessarily make it legal but it does suggest that some of their content is without the permission of the rights owners. Does rwb/coleco have rights to any of those games? If that's the unreleased Atarisoft Pac-man for coleco-vision, the game would have to be licensed from both Namco and today's Atari. Rwb/coleco would have nothing to do with it. Classicreload.com already has arcade pac-man on their site. Edited December 14, 2017 by mr_me
TPR #2496 Posted December 14, 2017 The classicreload.com website is clear that their content is for educational and research purposes. That doesn't necessarily make it legal but it does suggest that some of their content is without the permission of the rights owners. Does rwb/coleco have rights to any of those games? Classicreload.com already has arcade pac-man on their site. So why would you go out of your way to make a point that you've officially licensed something when a vast amount of content obviously isn't licensed? (not questioning you, just in general.) Because now that they have mentioned licensing one aspect of their content, it puts everything else into question. #dumb
mr_me #2497 Posted December 14, 2017 (edited) They did license the coleco vision trademark. They also say "and many titles". Abandoned trademarks can be claimed like coleco and coleco vision. The games themselves have to be licensed or purchased. They are not claiming licensing of any game copyright. Also on their website they say they will remove anything that infringes. So they put stuff up first and wait to see if anyone complains. The idea behind abandonware publishing is that the copyright owners are not active or not available for licensing. Edit:. I agree there is no point in licensing coleco vision". It is within their rights to describe the games as coleco vision games without the graphic logo. It probably benefits rwb/coleco more than it does the website. Licensing the coleco vision trademark does not put their content into question. The fact that they don't mention any copyright licensing does. Edited December 14, 2017 by mr_me
Flojomojo #2498 Posted December 14, 2017 "Coleco" went out of their way to report the ColecoVision Fan facebook page because it showed some home-brew ColecoVision games with female cleavage on the boxes. They said it was tainting their brand. It would be logically consistent for them to enforce their made-up standards and report any wrongdoing that they find. They won't do this, because if they see something that they think enhances the value of their brand, they'll tolerate it. They used Donkey Kong imagery very liberally in their promotion of their Coleco Expo. They're opportunists, hypocritical and gross. They don't deserve our respect, money, or attention.
mr_me #2499 Posted December 14, 2017 (edited) We don't know for certain if these games are licensed or not. But you guys are right, if these games are there without permission it does look like rwb/coleco condones piracy. Also realise, this is not Facebook, only the copyright rights holder can bring their content down. Edited December 14, 2017 by mr_me
enoofu #2500 Posted December 15, 2017 classicreload just appears to be a honeypot, basically "free games" they don't own to sell advertising. They probably copied the games from other abandonware sites
