new to demoscene

i've wanted to make a Commodre 64 or 128.plus 4 demo for a while but the peeks and pokes drive me nuts. are there any outside programs i can use to do so?

There were demo makers for the C64 but don't expect much variety in using one. You might be able to load your own font, image, perhaps SID music into a such program.
